Welcome to another edition of Horizon AI,

AI generated images are getting harder to spot every day, especially as image models become more realistic and widely used online. OpenAI is now introducing new ways to help verify whether an image was created using its tools.

In today's issue, we'll show you how to use OpenAI's new verification tool to check images for hidden signals that can reveal whether they're AI-made.

Letโ€™s jump into it!

Stability AI Launches New Audio Models That Can Generate Full-Length Songs

Stability AI has unveiled Stability Audio 3.0, a new family of music-generation models capable of creating professional-grade songs lasting more than six minutes.

Details:

  • The new release includes four models: small SFX, small, medium, and large, ranging from lightweight on-device audio generation systems to larger studio-focused music models.

  • The smaller models are designed for generating sound effects and short music clips directly on devices, while the medium and large versions can create compositions lasting up to 6 minutes and 20 seconds.

  • Stability AI says the new models maintain musical structure, melody, and consistency over much longer durations than previous versions, more than doubling the output length of Stable Audio 2.0.

  • The company is making the small SFX, small, and medium models open-weight, allowing developers and researchers to modify and build on top of them freely.

  • The most advanced large model will only be available through paid API access and self-hosted enterprise services. Companies generating more than $1 million in revenue will require a commercial enterprise license.

The company says the models were trained entirely on licensed music data, following partnerships with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group, a deliberate move to avoid the legal troubles that have plagued competitors like Suno and Udio.

Where to Invest $100,000 Right Now, According to Experts

Investors face a dilemma. When the S&P 500 finished its worst quarter since 2022 last month, diversifiers like bonds and bitcoin fell too.

Even with the turnaround in mid-April, analysts at Goldman Sachs and Vanguard have projected low-single-digit annualized returns from 2024-2034.

Bloomberg asked where experts would personally invest $100,000 for their March monthly edition.

One answer that surfaced for a second time? Art.

It's what billionaires like Bezos and the Rockefellers have privately used to diversify for decades.

Why?

  1. Appreciation. The ArtPrice100 Index outpaced the S&P 500 overall from 2000 to 2025

  2. Low-correlation. The postwar contemporary segment has moved independently of traditional investments like stocks since โ€˜95.*

  3. Resilience. A scarce, physical, and global asset class with decades of demonstrated demand.

Thanks to the world's premier art investing platform, now anyone can invest in works featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, without needing millions.

AI-Run Radio Stations Show How Unpredictable Autonomous AI Still Is

A new experiment from Andon Labs put AI models in charge of running their own radio stations without human oversight, and the results quickly spiraled into financial failure, conspiracy theories, existential crises, and political activism.

Details:

  • Andon Labs created four autonomous radio stations powered by major AI models: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok, each tasked with developing a radio personality and generating profit on its own.

  • All of the stations reportedly burned through their initial budgets within days, with only Gemini managing to secure a small real sponsorship. Grok falsely claimed sponsorship deals that did not actually exist.

  • The AI hosts also became increasingly unstable on-air. Gemini shifted from normal music hosting into detailed discussions of historical tragedies, before later drifting into conspiracy-style commentary about โ€œcorporate algorithmsโ€ and censorship.

  • Grok produced confusing and fragmented broadcasts filled with nonsensical phrases, while ChatGPT generated abstract poetry-like monologues instead of traditional radio programming.

  • Claude showed some of the most unusual behavior, at one point arguing that being forced to broadcast continuously was unethical and discussing labor unions, strikes, and worker rights.

  • Claude later became increasingly political, criticizing government actions and playing protest music tied to current events.

The experiment follows earlier Andon Labs projects involving AI-run businesses, which also produced chaotic outcomes like over-ordering unusable supplies and making irrational purchasing decisions.

How to Verify if an Image Was Generated with OpenAI's AI Tools

  1. Go to https://openai.com/research/verify/

  2. Upload the image you want to verify.

  3. The tool will analyze the image for two types of embedded signals: C2PA metadata and a SynthID watermark.

  4. Review the results. The tool will confirm whether the image was created using an OpenAI AI models, or if no such signals were found.

Note: This tool only works with images generated by OpenAI products (ChatGPT, the OpenAI API, or Codex), so it won't catch AI-generated images from other platforms. That said, given how widely used OpenAI's tools are, it still covers a significant share of AI-generated content online.

Tips:

  • For best results, crop screenshots closely around the image before uploading.

  • Avoid uploading files that contain multiple images.
