With a few simple prompt upgrades, you can push ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other AI tools to provide deeper insights, better reasoning, and more useful information. In today’s issue, we’ll show you five prompts that can dramatically improve the quality of AI responses.

Microsoft Unveils New AI Models, Agents, and Hardware at Build 2026

Microsoft used its Build 2026 keynote to showcase a broad range of AI announcements, highlighting its growing focus on in-house models, AI agents, and AI-powered hardware.

Details:

• Microsoft introduced seven new AI models, including MAI-Thinking-1, its first reasoning-focused model. The company says it is designed for complex multi-step tasks, long-context reasoning, and code generation.

• Microsoft revealed the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a compact AI development PC powered by Nvidia’s new RTX Spark chip. The device is designed for developers who want to run AI models locally and comes with tools like Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot pre-installed.

• A new operating system project called Project Solara aims to connect AI agents across multiple devices. Built with Qualcomm and MediaTek, the platform is designed to allow agents to move tasks seamlessly between PCs and other hardware.

• Microsoft also introduced Scout, an always-on AI assistant built on the open-source OpenClaw platform. The assistant can work across Microsoft 365 apps to help manage calendars, emails, meetings, files, and other business tasks.

Other announcements include Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), a system that lets developers restrict what AI agents can access and do on a device, and Majorana 2, its next-generation quantum computing chip, which the company says could significantly accelerate its progress in the field and was developed with the help of Microsoft Discovery's agentic AI.

After Industry Objections, President Trump Signs Revised AI Oversight Executive Order

President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order that creates a voluntary process for the government to review advanced AI models before they are released to the public.

Details:

• The order asks certain AI companies to voluntarily submit new models for government testing or evaluation up to 30 days before launch.

• Earlier versions of the proposal reportedly called for reviews as much as 90 days in advance, but industry leaders pushed back asking for a shorter period.

• The final order explicitly states that it does not create any mandatory licensing, approval, or permitting requirements for the development or release of AI models.

• In addition to the review framework, the order directs the Department of Justice to prioritize enforcement against crimes involving AI, including AI-assisted hacking and unauthorized system access.

Trump had been slated to sign the more demanding version of the order in late May, but delayed the decision, saying at the time that he didn't want to do anything to get in AI firms' way of leading against China.

5 Prompts to Get Deeper, Smarter Answers from Any Chatbot

1. Start by asking your normal question in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or your AI tool of choice.

2. Then, attach one of the following five prompts to make sure the AI gives answers that go beyond surface-level knowledge.

• Self-critique prompt (works for most topics) :

"Before answering, identify what would make a typical answer to this question come off as shallow, generic, or incomplete. Then make sure to avoid those pitfalls. Focus on depth, nuance, trade-offs, evidence, first-principles reasoning, and actionable insights. Assume I want the best possible answer, not the fastest one."

• Use this prompt when you already have some background knowledge (it skips the basics and focuses on the insights most relevant to you).

"Don’t give me a surface-level answer. Assume I'm intelligent, curious, and willing to engage with complexity. Explore the topic in depth, identify hidden assumptions, explain the key trade-offs, challenge conventional wisdom where appropriate, and highlight insights that most people would miss."

• When solving a problem or making a decision, try this failure analysis prompt:

"Why do most people fail at this? What mistakes repeatedly cause poor outcomes in this situation despite good intentions?"

• For complex topics, switch on researcher mode:

"Approach this like an investigative researcher. Examine underlying causes, competing explanations, limitations, and unresolved questions."

• For controversial or highly debated subjects, use this evidence-based prompt:

"For every major claim, explain the reasoning and evidence supporting it. Distinguish between facts, assumptions, and speculation."

These prompts work because they encourage AI to move beyond default, statistically likely answers and instead focus on reasoning, evidence, trade-offs, and deeper analysis.

The company is significantly expanding access to Mythos, bringing the technology to 150 additional organizations across more than 15 countries through its Project Glasswing initiative.

The new expansion adds sectors that were underrepresented in the initial rollout, including healthcare, power, water, communications, and hardware.

Martin Scorsese embraces AI for filmmaking

The Oscar-winning director has joined AI startup Black Forest Labs as an adviser, saying filmmakers should remain open to how cinema can evolve. The director revealed he has been using the company’s AI tools to storyboard scenes, helping him communicate ideas more clearly and speed up pre-production without sacrificing quality. He compared the technology to past innovations he adopted, such as 3D in Hugo and de-aging effects in The Irishman.

Alphabet plans to raise $80B to fund AI build-out

Google owner Alphabet plans to raise $80 billion through stock sales, including a $10 billion investment from Berkshire Hathaway, to expand its AI infrastructure. The company says demand for its AI products is exceeding available capacity, prompting larger investments in computing resources and data centers.

OpenAI launches Codex updates

OpenAI has introduced new Codex updates aimed at expanding the tool beyond software development. The release includes role-specific plugins for jobs such as data analytics, sales, product design, creative production, and investing, along with a new Sites feature that can turn work into shareable interactive websites and apps.

Microsoft working on wearable AI gadget aimed at office workers

Microsoft is experimenting with new AI-powered hardware designed to give office workers quicker access to AI agents and workplace tools without relying entirely on a laptop or desktop computer.
