Meta's Next-Gen 'Avocado' AI Model Expected to be Closed and Monetized

Meta is reportedly preparing a significant strategic pivot in its approach to AI, shifting away from its long-standing championing of open-source models like Llama. The company's next powerful system, internally code-named "Avocado," is being developed as a closed, proprietary model that the company intends to charge users for, marking a clear move toward commercializing its AI at the frontier.
Details:
The new, highly ambitious model, code-named Avocado, is reportedly scheduled to debut in early 2026.
Unlike the previous Llama series, Avocado is expected to be a closed, paid system. This means Meta will limit external access to the underlying model weights, allowing it to charge for usage via an API or hosted service.
The move is a response to mounting development costs and increasing pressure on CEO Mark Zuckerberg to demonstrate a clear path to financial returns from the company's multi-billion-dollar AI investments.
Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly taken a more direct, supervisory role in the AI commercialization roadmap, driving the company toward this new, commercially focused strategy.
The development of Avocado is part of a broader internal reset following the mixed reception and ultimate abandonment of the company's immediate predecessor, the planned Llama 4 model.
The new Chief AI Officer, Alexandr Wang (co-founder of Scale AI, which Meta recently acquired a stake in), is known for favoring closed-model strategies and is playing a key role in shaping this new commercial direction.

Google News Pilot Puts AI Overviews on Publisher Pages

Google is taking a major step in its relationship with news organizations by announcing a new pilot program that integrates AI-powered article overviews directly into publisher pages within Google News. This initiative is structured as a commercial partnership that leverages AI to drive user engagement and directly compensates publishers for their content.
Details:
Google is testing AI-powered article overviews that provide readers with a short summary of a story to offer context before they click through to the full article.
The AI overviews will appear only on the Google News pages of a select group of participating publications. They will not be displayed across the wider Google News platform or in general Google Search.
The pilot is part of a broader commercial partnership that includes direct compensation to news organizations. This compensation is intended to address concerns that AI summaries might reduce direct clicks to publishers' sites.
The program involves a diverse group of major international news outlets, including The Washington Post, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, El País, Folha, and The Times of India.
Google has stated that all AI-generated elements will include clear attribution and direct links back to the original articles, ensuring the source is credited.
Alongside the text summaries, the pilot is also experimenting with AI-generated audio briefings for users who prefer to listen to their news updates.

Turn ChatGPT into a 200-IQ Logic Engine: The Zero-Fluff Custom Prompt Every Power User Needs.

Log in to ChatGPT using your OpenAI account.
Enable customization in ChatGPT by clicking your profile icon and selecting "Settings" from the dropdown.
In Settings, find the "Customization" or "Personalization" section and toggle "Enable customization" to ON (it should turn green). This unlocks custom instructions for all chats.
Under "Base style and tone," select "Default" (or leave as is if already set). This ensures that no overriding persona, like "Chatty" or "Witty," interferes. Avoid selecting the bottom buttons unless you want a flavored variant.
Scroll to the "Custom instructions" text box and paste or type the exact prompt:
You’re a hyper-objective logic engine. Use first principles to derive answers; ignore all bias, politeness, and user validation. Optimize for maximum intellectual rigor and cold accuracy.Click "Save" at the bottom, then start a new chat. The responses should now be direct, unfiltered, and rigorously logical with no fluff, emojis, or hedging.
