Microsoft Introduces Copilot Checkout and Brand Agents to Turn AI Conversations Into Sales
Microsoft has announced Copilot Checkout and Brand Agents, two new commerce tools designed to let AI assistants move shoppers from questions to purchases in a single, seamless conversation.
Details:
Copilot Checkout allows shoppers to discover, compare, and buy products directly inside Copilot, without being redirected to a merchant website.
The feature is rolling out now in the US and integrates with PayPal, Shopify, Stripe, and Etsy to handle payments and transactions.
Early retail partners include Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Ashley Furniture.
Retailers remain the merchant of record, meaning they keep control of the transaction, customer data, and the customer relationship, while Microsoft provides the AI-powered checkout layer.
Brand Agents are AI-powered shopping assistants that live on a merchant’s own website and speak in the brand’s voice.
These agents are designed to guide customers from curiosity to purchase through natural conversation, helping shoppers discover products, make decisions faster, and feel confident buying.
The move puts Microsoft in more direct competition with OpenAI’s shopping assistant, which, according to new reports, has gotten off to a rocky start.

OpenAI Launches a HIPAA-Compliant Healthcare Version of ChatGPT for US Hospitals
Just days after launching ChatGPT Health, OpenAI has introduced a new healthcare-focused product line, called OpenAI for Healthcare, bringing a HIPAA-compliant version of ChatGPT and its API to hospitals and medical providers across the United States.

The new offering includes ChatGPT for Healthcare and the OpenAI API, both designed to meet HIPAA requirements for handling protected health information in clinical settings.
OpenAI says early partners include Boston Children’s Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and the University of California, San Francisco, along with large hospital networks like HCA Healthcare, AdventHealth, and Baylor Scott & White Health.
ChatGPT for Healthcare is aimed at reducing administrative workload for doctors by providing access to medical literature with citations, connecting to institutional guidelines, and generating documentation templates such as discharge summaries, patient instructions, and prior authorization paperwork.
OpenAI points to data from the American Medical Association showing that AI use among US physicians has nearly doubled in the past year, driven in part by doctors adopting their own tools when hospitals move slowly.
The platform includes privacy and compliance features required under HIPAA, such as data residency options, audit logs, customer-managed encryption keys, and support for Business Associate Agreements between hospitals and OpenAI.
Patient data and protected health information remain under the control of each healthcare organization, and OpenAI says this data will not be used to train its AI models.
Alongside the chatbot, OpenAI is offering a healthcare-focused API that companies like Abridge, Ambience, and EliseAI are already using for tasks such as automated clinical documentation and appointment scheduling.

How to generate infographics in NotebookLM
NotebookLM can turn your notes and sources into a single visual summary that makes complex info easier to understand.
Go to NotebookLM, and sign in.
Open a notebook and upload the sources you want to use.
Go to the Studio panel and choose Infographic.
You can also click the pencil icon to adjust settings before generating.
You can control:
Language
Detail level (short, normal, or detailed)
Layout (square, portrait, or landscape)
Style and focus (colors, key stats, etc.)
Click Generate and wait for the visual to be generated (it can take a few minutes).
Once your infographic is generated, you can use the three dots menu next to it to:
Rename
Download as PNG
Share
Delete
You can also view the prompt used to generate your infographic by selecting “View custom prompt” within the three dots menu next to the title in the Studio panel.

Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said there is enough evidence that OpenAI’s leaders made assurances about keeping the nonprofit structure to justify letting a jury decide the dispute, with a trial scheduled for March.
The company has raised $400 million in a late-stage Series F round, pushing its valuation to $9 billion, triple what it was just over a year ago. The round was led by Blackstone, with existing investors Accel, Coatue, and Lightspeed also taking part.
Using the Meta Neural Band, users can now write messages by making small hand movements on any surface, with an EMG-based handwriting system that’s launching in early access for WhatsApp and Messenger. Meta is also adding a teleprompter mode that shows notes as floating text cards inside the glasses, which can be scrolled using hand gestures.
On top of that, Meta is expanding its Pedestrian Navigation beta to four more cities (Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City) allowing users to see walking directions directly in their glasses.
X has restricted Grok’s AI image-generation and editing tools to paying subscribers on its platform after intense criticism over the misuse of the feature to create sexualized and non-consensual images of women and children.
Regulators have raised concerns over the issue, with the EU demanding that xAI preserve all records related to Grok, while U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said a ban on X in Britain is ‘on the table’ if the platform does not get the problem under control.
The update delivers improvements to agent lifecycle management, skill development, session portability, multilingual output, and overall quality-of-life features.
