Apple Teams Up With Google for AI in Its Products 🤝

Welcome to another edition of Horizon AI,
Grok has become a big part of how people use X, from quick fact-checks to image edits and threaded replies. But for many users, it also means timelines filled with “@Grok” mentions and AI-generated posts that can make real conversations harder to follow. APPLE & GOOGLE
Apple, Google Confirm Multiyear Deal for AI, Siri

Apple has officially partnered with Google to use Gemini models and cloud infrastructure to power its AI features, including future versions of Siri.
Details:
Apple chose Google after testing multiple AI providers, saying Gemini offers the strongest foundation for its next generation of Apple Intelligence features. The agreement is multi-year and not exclusive.
While neither company confirmed the price, earlier reports suggest Apple could be paying Google around $1 billion for access to its AI technology.
The partnership means Apple will rely on Gemini models and Google’s cloud to support Apple’s own foundation models, even as it continues to develop its in-house AI stack.
Apple has faced growing criticism for falling behind in AI assistants, especially with Siri, despite rolling out Apple Intelligence in 2024 for features like photo search and notification summaries.
A more personalized version of Siri has been delayed multiple times, but Apple says a major upgrade is finally coming later this year.
Apple says its privacy-first approach will stay in place, with much of the AI processing still happening on-device or within tightly controlled infrastructure.
This deal marks a major shift for Apple, tying the future of Siri and its AI platform to Google’s technology just as both companies face intense pressure from rivals like OpenAI, and growing scrutiny from regulators.

ANTHROPIC
Anthropic Launches Cowork, Bringing Claude Code to Nontechnical Users

Anthropic has introduced Cowork, a new tool that makes the power of Claude Code available inside a simple desktop app, without needing command lines or developer setups.
Details:
Cowork lives inside the Claude Desktop app and lets users give Claude access to a specific folder, where it can read, edit, and organize files based on normal chat instructions.
The tool works like a sandboxed version of Claude Code, giving Claude real control over files while keeping everything limited to one approved workspace.
Cowork is currently in research preview and only available to Max subscribers, with a waitlist open for other users.
It’s built on the Claude Agent SDK, the same system behind Claude Code, and was inspired by people already using Claude Code for non-coding tasks like file management, data review, and content organization.
Example uses include building expense reports from receipt photos, organizing media libraries, scanning social posts, or analyzing conversation logs.
Because Cowork can carry out multiple actions on its own, Anthropic warns users to give clear instructions to avoid risks like deleted files or prompt-injection attacks.
This launch extends Claude Code beyond developers, positioning Cowork as a general-purpose AI assistant that can directly work with your files.
