AI Godfather Warns Meta’s New AI Boss Is Inexperienced, Predicts Talent Exodus

Yann LeCun, Meta’s former chief AI scientist and one of the field’s most influential figures, has publicly criticized Meta’s new AI leadership, warning the company could lose key researchers.

Details:

  • LeCun described Meta’s 29-year-old chief AI officer, Alexander Wang, as “young” and “inexperienced,” particularly when it comes to running and attracting top-tier research teams.

  • Wang, the billionaire co-founder of Scale AI, joined Meta in 2025 after the company bought a 49% stake in his startup and put him in charge of building new AI models at TBD Labs.

  • LeCun said Wang may learn quickly but lacks experience in how research organizations function and what motivates or repels researchers.

  • He also claimed Mark Zuckerberg sidelined Meta’s entire generative AI organization after accusations that Meta gamed benchmarks to make Llama 4 appear stronger than it was.

  • He said leadership and strategic decisions have driven employee departures and left Meta lagging by prioritizing “safe and proven” approaches over riskier innovation.

  • LeCun also reiterated his belief that LLMs are a “dead end” for achieving superintelligence, a view that contrasts with Meta’s current direction.

  • His new startup, Advanced Machine Intelligence Labs, is focused on “world models” that learn from video and other real-world data, which he argues can overcome key limitations of LLMs.

The remarks highlight growing tension inside Big Tech over AI strategy, leadership, and whether today’s dominant model architectures can actually deliver the next leap in intelligence.

AMAZON

Amazon Launches Alexa. com

Amazon is expanding its revamped AI assistant, Alexa+, beyond smart devices by launching Alexa.com, giving users a way to interact with Alexa directly on the web like a traditional chatbot.

Details:

  • Amazon has rolled out Alexa.com to Alexa+ Early Access users, allowing them to use the AI assistant online for tasks such as researching topics, creating content, planning trips, and managing daily activities.

  • The move reflects Amazon’s belief that Alexa needs to be “everywhere” to compete with AI rivals, extending beyond Echo devices into the web and mobile apps, with the Alexa app redesigned around a more chatbot-style, agent-focused interface.

  • Amazon is positioning Alexa+ around family and home use cases, such as managing calendars and to-do lists, controlling smart home devices, adding groceries to Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods carts, making reservations, and planning activities like family movie nights.

  • Alexa+ is being integrated with more third-party services, including Expedia, Yelp, Angi, Square, and others, building on existing partnerships with apps like OpenTable, Uber, and Ticketmaster.

  • Amazon is encouraging users to share documents, emails, and calendar data with Alexa+ so it can act as a central hub for household information.

Amazon says more than 10 million users now have access to Alexa+, with significantly higher engagement than the original Alexa, especially in shopping, recipes, and smart home control. While some users report errors and misfires, the company claims opt-outs are rare and sees Alexa’s ability to manage real household tasks as its biggest long-term advantage.

Last Time the Market Was This Expensive, Investors Waited 14 Years to Break Even

In 1999, the S&P 500 peaked. Then it took 14 years to gradually recover by 2013.

Today? Goldman Sachs sounds crazy forecasting 3% returns for 2024 to 2034.

But we’re currently seeing the highest price for the S&P 500 compared to earnings since the dot-com boom.

So, maybe that’s why they’re not alone; Vanguard projects about 5%.

In fact, now just about everything seems priced near all time highs. Equities, gold, crypto, etc.

But billionaires have long diversified a slice of their portfolios with one asset class that is poised to rebound.

It’s post war and contemporary art.

Sounds crazy, but over 70,000 investors have followed suit since 2019—with Masterworks.

Researchers from ByteDance and Nanyang Technological University introduced StoryMem, a system that helps AI video models keep characters and environments consistent across multiple scenes. Instead of generating each clip in isolation, StoryMem stores key frames in a memory bank and uses them as references for future scenes. Benchmarks and user studies show clear gains in cross-scene consistency and visual quality compared to existing methods.

The company plans to expand Galaxy AI features to 800 million mobile devices in 2026, up from about 400 million last year, largely powered by Google’s Gemini. Co-CEO T.M. More than five percent of all ChatGPT messages globally focus on health topics, OpenAI told Axios. Around 40 million Americans use the chatbot daily for medical-related questions like symptoms, bills, and insurance. OpenAI logs nearly two million insurance questions per week, a rise linked to expiring U.S. health subsidies, though the company warns of risks due to hallucinations and uneven model quality.

Jaana Dogan, a Google principal engineer says Anthropic’s Claude Code was able to generate a distributed agent orchestration system in about an hour, a project her team had been exploring for roughly a year.

She clarified that the result isn’t production-ready, but said it’s comparable to earlier internal versions and a solid starting point.
