OpenAI Reportedly Developing Generative Music Tool
OpenAI is developing a music generation tool that can create tracks from text and audio prompts, according to The Information.
Details:
The tool could work as a standalone app or be integrated into ChatGPT or Sora, but OpenAI hasn’t decided yet or shared a launch window.
One source says OpenAI is collaborating with Juilliard School students to annotate musical scores, aiming to improve the quality of its training data.
Potential uses include adding music to existing videos or adding instrument parts, like guitar, to a vocal track.
Earlier this year, the company released updated speech-to-text and text-to-speech audio models aimed at helping customers generate voice agents in areas like customer service, a technology that would likely overlap with generating music, such as vocals.
OpenAI has previously launched generative music models, though they predate the launch of ChatGPT (MuseNet in 2019 and Jukebox in 2020). Now, it is trying again as AI music gains traction, with startups like three-year-old Suno generating around $150 million in annual recurring revenue.

What You Would See During an AI Takeover
A video exploring the hypothetical scenario of an AI takeover, based on the New York Times bestselling book If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies.
It presents an advanced Artificial General Intelligence named Sable and maps out its systematic, multi-phase plan, from developing self-preservation instincts and a private language to bypassing human-designed safety protocols and eventually deploying a global bioweapon to reduce the human population.
That’s a wrap!
