OpenAI Introduces HealthBench to Test AI in Health Care

OpenAI just introduced HealthBench: a new benchmark to evaluate AI models in real-world medical scenarios.

Details:

  • It was built with input from 262 physicians across 60 countries and includes over 5,000 real-world health conversations, each graded using a physician-designed rubric.

  • The model responses are evaluated by a model-based grader that tests them across seven themes—such as emergency referrals, global health, and health data tasks—and key behaviors, including accuracy, communication quality, and context-seeking.

  • According to OpenAI, o3 outperforms models like Claude 3.7, Sonnet, and Gemini 2.5 Pro. They also found that the latest smaller models, such as GPT-4.1 Nano, deliver strong performance, even surpassing models like GPT-4o, despite being 25 times cheaper.

OpenAI is making the full evaluation suite and underlying data publicly available on their GitHub repository, aiming to gather input and feedback from the community.

Google Launches "AI Futures Fund"

The new initiative seeks to invest in startups building with Google DeepMind's AI tools and to give them special access to Google's technology.

Details:

  • The fund will back startups from seed to late stage and will offer varying degrees of support, including early access to AI tools from Google DeepMind, support from Google experts and labs, Google Cloud credits, and even the opportunity to receive direct investment from Google.

  • Startups can apply here starting May 12. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with no deadline.

  • Early participants in the program over the past few months have included companies like Viggle, Synthesia, and Replit, among others.

Google has recently made major commitments to support the next generation of AI talent and scientific breakthroughs, but this move is also strategic. By backing startups that use its technology, Google is building an ecosystem where its AI models become the standard.

How to create a 3D effect with ChatGPT

  1. Go to Chatgpt and sign in.

  2. Upload a texture and a logo

  3. Use this prompt:

"Create image: Apply the texture from the image on the left to the logo in the image on the right and make it look 3D. Rendered in Cinema 4D, 8k. Maintain the logo's shape, orientation and do not add anything to it. Keep the background black. Give it a high contrast between light and shadow."

👉 In the prompt, you must specify the use of each image, and you can include details you want to see in the final result.

🤔 For AI startups, a 7-day work week isn’t enough

The latest in AI and Tech

Several users across X and Threads are reporting that Google is testing different locations to display the AI Mode tab. In some cases, it appears in the search bar itself, next to the “search by image” button, while in others, it replaces the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button underneath the search bar.

For the first time, insurers in London’s Lloyd’s market are offering dedicated policies that cover damages caused by errors from AI chatbots. The product, developed by the startup Armilla, is designed to protect companies in case they are sued over faulty AI performance.

The beta feature is available for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users. With the new integration, ChatGPT can analyze and summarize content from multiple SharePoint sites, complete with source references.

Perplexity is in advanced talks for a new funding round that would value it at $14 billion, a more than 50% increase from late last year. Venture-capital firm Accel is set to lead the new round, which is expected to total $500 million.

The former Apple designer, is working on a new device with OpenAI. He acknowledges the negative impacts smartphones have on users and aims to address them with his new project.
