Microsoft's New Health AI Beats Doctors?

Microsoft has introduced a new AI system, the Microsoft AI Diagnostic Orchestrator (MAI-DxO), which achieved an accuracy rate four times higher than a group of experienced physicians when tested on complex cases.

Details:

  • The MAI-DxO system was designed to emulate a virtual panel of physicians with diverse diagnostic approaches, collaborating to solve diagnostic cases.

  • In the study, both AI and doctors were presented with complex cases sourced from the New England Journal of Medicine and asked to diagnose them step by step, just as they would in a real clinic (ordering tests, asking questions, etc.).

  • MAI-DxO solved 85.5% of cases correctly, compared to the 20% accuracy rate of 21 experienced doctors.

  • Microsoft claims the AI system also solved cases more "cost-effectively" than human doctors, which could help address unnecessary healthcare costs — currently estimated to account for up to 25% of US health spending.

  • The company emphasized, though, that the AI is meant to complement doctors, not replace them. Still, Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, called it “a big step toward medical superintelligence.”

AI holds great promise for making healthcare more efficient and accessible, but experts caution that it still can’t replicate the empathy or nuanced judgment of human clinicians. Striking the right balance between technology and human care will remain a crucial part of the conversation.

BAIDU

Baidu Goes Open Source with ERNIE 4.5 Model Family

Baidu is open-sourcing its ERNIE 4.5 model family under the Apache 2.0 license, marking a major shift for the company, which previously kept its models closed-source.

Details:

  • The ERNIE 4.5 lineup includes ten versions, from compact models with 0.3 billion parameters to advanced MoE models with 424 billion total parameters, along with developer tools like ERNIEKit and FastDeploy.

  • The ERNIE-4.5-300B-A47B-Base model outperforms DeepSeek-V3-671B-A37B-Base on 22 out of 28 benchmarks and can match or even surpass leading models in certain areas, though it doesn’t claim the top spot overall.

  • Baidu CEO Robin Li says the goal is to empower developers worldwide to build powerful AI applications without facing high costs or being locked into proprietary platforms.

This reversal is seen as a response to growing competition in China’s AI market, particularly from DeepSeek. It also follows a global trend of AI labs releasing open models, with even companies like OpenAI planning an open-source release soon.

AI Tutorial

How to use Gemini to summarize YouTube videos instantly

If you're tired of sitting through long YouTube tutorials or recipe videos just to find one small piece of information, you're definitely not the only one.

Now you can have Gemini watch the video for you without switching apps. It extracts the important parts and gives you quick, clear answers — no more annoying ads or skipping through the video.

  1. Open the YouTube video

Use the YouTube app or your mobile browser on an Android phone with Gemini enabled.

  1. Once the video is open, launch Gemini (by long-pressing the power button or swiping up from the corner of your screen).

Gemini can see your screen and will immediately recognize that you’re on a YouTube video.

  1. It will give you two options:
Use Live to talk about this video
Ask questions about this video (Type)

You can pick either one — I’ll go with the second for this example.

  1. Ask exactly what you want to know

Try something like: “How much sugar do I need for this recipe?” or simply “Summarize this video.”
Gemini will analyze the video and give you an accurate answer.

  1. After responding, Gemini also provides a direct link to the exact moment in the video where your question is answered.

This way, you can verify it for yourself — no skipping around or guessing.

I’ve personally found this feature incredibly useful for certain videos. It helps you skip the fluff and get straight to what matters.

Yesterday we talked about Mark Zuckerberg poaching researchers from OpenAI. Now Meta’s Chief AI Officer has released the official list of hires for their superintelligence team — many of them from rival AI firms like Anthropic and Google.

The move brings Superhuman’s team, including CEO Rahul Vohra, to Grammarly.

While financial terms weren’t disclosed, Superhuman was last valued at $825 million.

Apple is reportedly exploring a partnership with OpenAI or Anthropic to boost its upcoming AI-powered Siri, after internal models fell short of expectations.

While the plans are still in early stages, they signal Apple’s urgency to keep pace in the AI race.

The deal, split evenly between debt and strategic equity, will support xAI’s “continued development of cutting-edge AI solutions,” including one of the world’s largest data centers and its flagship model, Grok. With this, xAI’s total funding now stands at around $17 billion.

The AI-powered coding editor, has launched a web app that lets users manage a network of coding agents from desktop or mobile browsers.
