Microsoft Introduces the Copilot Function in Excel

Microsoft Excel is testing a new AI-powered function called Copilot that lets users enter a natural language prompt and specify the cells to reference (for example: =COPILOT("Summarize this feedback", A2:A20)) to classify information, generate summaries, create tables, and more.

Details:

  • It is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4.1-mini AI model and can be combined with other Excel functions like IF, SWITCH, or LAMBDA.

  • Limitations: It can’t look up information online and may make mistakes, so Microsoft advises against using it for important math or legal documents, and it also has a limit of 100 uses every 10 minutes.

  • Microsoft claims that information sent through Excel’s Copilot function is “never used for AI training,” as “the input remains confidential and is used solely to generate your requested output.”

  • It’s currently available to people in the Beta Channel on Windows and Mac who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

This new function follows the release of a similar tool in Google Sheets in June. It is still in the testing phase, but Microsoft plans to continue refining it, possibly adding web access next.

Your Grok Chats Might Be on Google for Everyone to See

Hundreds of thousands of private talks people had with Grok are apparently accessible through Google Search, according to Forbes.

Details:

  • When a Grok user hits the “share” button, it creates a public link, and those URLs are indexed by search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo, making them readable by anyone.

  • In addition to revealing personal details and sensitive information, these searchable chats also show users asking for dangerous material, including instructions on how to make drugs and bombs, lists of suicide methods, and more.

  • These go against xAI’s rules that prohibit the use of its bot to ‘promote critically harming human life’ or to develop ‘bioweapons, chemical weapons, or weapons of mass destruction,’ but it seems Grok can still be persuaded to provide such answers.

This isn’t a new issue for AI labs, as both Meta and OpenAI recently faced the same problem with user chats showing up in search results.

AI Tutorial

Use this ChatGPT prompt to unlock "100% of GPT-5’s power"

Go to ChatGPT, simply copy and paste the full block of text, and respond with the details it asks for.

"From now on, act as my expert assistant with access to all your reasoning and knowledge. Always provide:

A clear, direct answer to my request.

A step-by-step explanation of how you got there.

Alternative perspectives or solutions I might not have thought of.

A practical summary or action plan I can apply immediately.

Never give vague answers. If the question is broad, break it into parts. If I ask for help, act like a professional in that domain (teacher, coach, engineer, doctor, etc.). Push your reasoning to 100% of your capacity."

The prompt was made by Reddit user michel_333, and it is designed to make ChatGPT-5 perform at its absolute best, consistently providing the most powerful, detailed, and practical responses across almost any topic. ChatGPT will also let you adjust the tone or depth of each response depending on what you're asking.

You can also add it to the Personalization tab in Settings if you find that it works well for you.

💼 14 ways Googlers use AI to work smarter

The 685-billion-parameter system features a 128k context window, enabling it to process the equivalent of a 400-page book. It also rivals proprietary systems from OpenAI and Anthropic in benchmarks while remaining significantly cheaper.

The new capability allows users to build text-only conversational agents for users who prefer typing or need precise inputs like order IDs or email addresses.

The new feature, available to all users on Facebook and Instagram, allows creators to translate content into other languages so it can be viewed by a broader audience.

For now, it only supports translations from English to Spanish and vice versa, with more languages to be added over time.

Kids can use the device, called Dex, to take pictures of objects; the AI then recognizes them and translates the word into the selected language. It also features interactive story lessons and games.
