Meta Releases Powerful Llama 3 Open-Source AI Model 🦙

Meta AI today released the next generation of its open-source large language models called Llama 3. According to the company, these new models match or exceed the performance of some of the leading proprietary AI systems.

Details:

  • The initial Llama 3 series comprises two pre-trained and instruction-tuned LLMs, one with 8 billion parameters and the other with 70 billion parameters.

  • The models were trained on a massive 15 trillion token dataset. The dataset is seven times larger than Llama 2.

  • The 70B model outperforms models like Google's Gemini 1.5 Pro and Anthropic's Claude 3 Sonnet in several benchmarks.

  • Meta is launching a new AI assistant called Meta AI powered by Llama 3. It will be available on the web at meta.ai and can also be used on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

Llama 3 is not complete with the models released today, Meta claims it will continue to develop the models and release additional models with new features such as multilingualism, a longer context window, and stronger overall capabilities in the coming months. According to Meta, the largest models in Llama 3 have over 400 billion parameters and could reach GPT-4 level capabilities

Invest before this company becomes a household name

What if you had the opportunity to invest in the biggest electronics products before they launched into big box retail, would you?

Ring changed doorbells and Nest changed thermostats. Early investors in these companies earned massive returns, but the opportunity to invest was limited to a select, wealthy few. Not anymore. RYSE has just launched in 100+ Best Buy stores, and you're in luck — you can still invest at only $1.50/share before their name becomes known nationwide.

They have patented the only mass market shade automation device, and their exclusive deal with Best Buy resembles that which led Ring and Nest to their billion-dollar buyouts.

AI RESEARCH

Microsoft Achieves Realistic Real-Time Talking Avatars with VASA-1

Source: Microsoft

Microsoft researchers have achieved a breakthrough in generating highly realistic talking avatars from just a single photo and an audio clip.

Details:

  • This new model, called VASA-1, can produce lifelike videos with accurate lip-syncing, vivid facial expressions, and natural head movements in real time.

  • It was trained on a massive dataset of face video data. From a single photo, it captures the person's identity, 3D appearance, and facial dynamics.

  • In tests, VASA-1 significantly outperformed previous methods in terms of audio synchronization of lip and head movements and video quality. The method delivers 512x512 pixel videos at up to 40 fps in real-time.

Microsoft sees immense potential for VASA-1 in creating lifelike digital avatars that could enhance communications, power AI tutors and therapists, and much more. However, the researchers also recognize the risks of the technology being misused. As a result, Microsoft will not release VASA-1 publicly at this time.

You can visit the VASA-1 project page to see several examples.
