Meta Presents AI-Powered Smart Glasses with Display and Neural Wristband

Meta’s long-rumored AI glasses have finally arrived, stealing the spotlight at this year’s Connect event. But the company also had other exciting news, here are the key highlights:

• Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses

The new $799 glasses are controlled by a wristband that detects subtle hand gestures, called the Meta Neural Band.

Like their predecessor, the Meta Ray-Ban Display also comes equipped with an onboard AI assistant, cameras, speakers, and microphones.

With the new built-in display, users will be able to use Meta apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook, view directions, see live translations, and more.

They will be available in the US starting September 30th.

• Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2

This new generation feature significantly improved battery life, nearly doubling that of the original model.

The glasses also support 3K video capture and come with a new “conversation focus” feature that amplifies the voice of the person speaking to you in noisy environments.

They are available to order today, starting at $379.

• Oakley Meta Vanguard

Meta partnered with Oakley to launch these new smart glasses designed for "high-intensity sports."

They feature a wraparound design, an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, and integrations with fitness apps like Garmin and Strava.

The launch is on October 21st, priced at $499, and preorders are available now.

• Hyperscape Capture

This new feature is in Early Access and is rolling out gradually to users with a Quest 3 or Quest 3S. It allows them to scan their surroundings and transform them into photorealistic virtual spaces, creating a digital replica of a real-world environment.

• Horizon TV, a new streaming hub for Quest headsets

The company is making it easier to stream movies and TV shows on your Quest headset. The platform will provide access to streaming apps like Prime Video, Peacock, Twitch, Hulu, and ESPN.

OPENAI & GOOGLE

OpenAI and Google Earn Gold at the World’s Top Collegiate Programming Contest

AI systems from OpenAI and Google have matched and even surpassed the best student teams at the ICPC World Finals 2025, following the same contest rules.

Details:

• Google DeepMind’s upgraded Gemini 2.5 Deep Think system reached gold-medal level, solving 10 out of 12 problems, including one that no human team managed to solve.

• OpenAI outperformed Google, solving all 12 problems within a five-hour window.

• OpenAI’s entry used an ensemble of GPT-5 plus an internal experimental reasoning model. The experimental model decided which solutions to submit.

• GPT-5 alone produced correct solutions for 11 problems. The experimental model solved the final, hardest task after nine submissions.

• The best human team solved 11 out of 12 problems.

Mostafa Rohaninejad, who worked on OpenAI’s project, stated that this is “just the beginning,” and that the true milestone will be building systems that can discover new knowledge.

5 ChatGPT settings worth enabling

Here are the top five settings worth enabling to get the most out of ChatGPT:

1. Voice mode

If you haven’t tried Voice Mode with ChatGPT, you’re missing out. The feature supports multiple voice options and lets you work hands-free, perfect for multitasking.

To enable it:

• Open the mobile app

• Tap the headphone icon

• Enable Voice

You can also turn the camera on and add Vision so ChatGPT can actively respond in real-time to the world around you.

2. Memory mode

When enabled, ChatGPT remembers your preferences, tone, and past details across chats, giving you personalized and consistent responses without needing to repeat yourself.

• Go to Settings > Personalization > Memory

• Toggle Enable

3. Customization

Tell ChatGPT how to respond, give it a personality, set the tone, detail level, or even what it calls you.

• Go to Settings > Personalization.

• Toggle Enable customization.

• Choose a personality, add custom instructions, and more.

4. Access legacy models (Plus only)

Apart from switching between GPT-5 Fast Mode (quick answers) and Thinking Mode (better reasoning), you can also access legacy models for certain tasks where they might be more useful.

• Go to Settings > General

• Toggle on Show additional models

5. Data Controls & Export

You can see, clear, or export your chat history — helping you not only clear your data, but also giving you a full backup and more control over your data.

• Go to Settings > Data Controls

• Choose Manage, Export, Delete, etc.
