Microsoft Upgrades Edge Copilot with AI Tab Analysis and Podcast Features
Microsoft has announced a major update to Edge Copilot, adding new AI features that can analyze information across open tabs, generate podcasts, create quizzes, and personalize responses based on browsing activity.
Details:
Edge Copilot can now access information from a user’s open tabs, allowing the AI to compare products, summarize articles, answer questions about webpages, and gather context across browsing sessions.
Microsoft says users will be able to control which AI experiences are enabled, while maintaining visibility into when Copilot is actively viewing or interacting with content.
A new “Study and Learn” mode can transform webpages into interactive learning sessions, complete with AI-generated quizzes and educational summaries.
Edge is also adding an AI podcast feature that can turn open tabs and articles into audio discussions, similar to tools like NotebookLM.
Microsoft introduced an AI writing assistant that appears while typing on webpages, helping users draft and refine text directly inside the browser.
Copilot can optionally access a user’s browsing history and long-term memory to provide more personalized and context-aware responses over time.
The Edge mobile app is also gaining screen-sharing with Copilot, allowing users to ask questions about what’s currently displayed on their phone screen in real time.

OpenAI Brings Its Codex Coding App to Mobile
OpenAI has integrated Codex into the ChatGPT mobile app, allowing developers to monitor, manage, and interact with coding workflows on both iOS and Android devices.
Details:
OpenAI says the update "is more than the ability to remotely control a single task or dispatch new tasks to your computer," giving users the ability to "work across all of your threads, review outputs, approve commands, change models, or start something new."
This is available to all ChatGPT users, including those on OpenAI's Go and Free tiers.
OpenAI says Codex uses a secure relay layer that keeps trusted machines reachable across devices without exposing them directly to the public internet.
The move comes as competition intensifies between OpenAI and Anthropic in the market for agentic coding assistants, with Anthropic having already released a similar feature (Remote Control) allowing users to remotely monitor Claude Code's work.

OpenAI has launched new personal finance features for ChatGPT Pro users in the U.S., allowing them to connect to over 12,000 financial institutions, including Schwab, Fidelity, Chase, Robinhood, American Express, and Capital One. Users can then analyze spending, track subscriptions, monitor portfolios, and ask financial planning questions directly inside ChatGPT.
A new Gallup poll found that 71% of Americans oppose AI data centers being built in their communities, with concerns focused on energy use, water consumption, pollution, and higher utility costs. Notably, only 53% object to a nearby nuclear plant.
OpenAI is reportedly considering legal action against Apple over its ChatGPT integration on iPhones, which allegedly failed to deliver the visibility and subscriber growth OpenAI expected. The disagreement centers on claims that ChatGPT features were difficult for users to find within Apple’s ecosystem and generated far less revenue than anticipated.
xAI has introduced Grok Build, a new coding agent designed for professional software engineering and complex programming tasks. The beta version is currently limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers paying $300 per month and is positioned as a competitor to tools like Anthropic’s Claude Code.
The agentic creative partner would allow users to turn a simple conversation into a finished, ready-to-publish video. Users can generate product launches, brand campaigns, social content, short films, and more by simply describing what they need in plain language.
