OPENAI
OpenAI Launches ChatGPT App Store to Expand Ecosystem

OpenAI has launched an app directory within ChatGPT, informally referred to as an "app store," allowing developers to submit their applications for review and potential publication.
Details:
The move builds on OpenAI’s earlier announcement that apps would become part of ChatGPT, enabling users to access third-party services without leaving a conversation.
Early integrations include platforms like Expedia, Spotify, Zillow, and Canva, allowing users to take actions such as planning trips, building slide decks, or searching for apartments directly through chat.
Apps are built using OpenAI’s Apps SDK, currently in beta, which provides the tools needed to create interactive experiences inside ChatGPT.
Once submitted, developers can track approval status through the OpenAI Developer platform, with approved apps expected to begin rolling out in ChatGPT over the coming year.
The launch marks a major step toward building a broader app ecosystem within ChatGPT, giving developers new distribution opportunities while encouraging users to spend more time inside the platform.

GENESIS MISSION
US Energy Department Announces Collaboration Agreements with Big Tech to Advance the Genesis Mission

The U.S. Department of Energy has signed new collaboration agreements with major technology companies to advance the Genesis Mission, a national initiative focused on using AI to accelerate scientific research and strengthen energy and security capabilities.
Details:
The DOE confirmed partnerships with 24 organizations, including Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, AWS, Oracle, IBM, Intel, AMD, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Palantir, alongside AI labs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI.
The Genesis Mission aims to boost scientific productivity, reduce dependence on foreign technology, and apply AI to high-impact research areas across energy and national security.
Nvidia will contribute accelerated computing platforms and AI models for scientific simulations, while Microsoft and Google will provide cloud infrastructure and AI tools for large-scale research.
Oracle is expected to support high-performance computing systems, with Cerebras and Groq supplying specialized AI chips optimized for scientific workloads.
OpenAI joined under its OpenAI for Science initiative, deploying frontier models and AI workflows inside national laboratories to support DOE researchers.
Anthropic will provide Claude models and a dedicated engineering team to build AI agents, model context protocols, and specialized capabilities tailored to national lab use cases.
Research applications span nuclear energy, quantum computing, robotics, and supply chain optimization.
The DOE says the Genesis Mission will significantly speed up scientific discovery, with plans to expand collaboration across academia and nonprofit research institutions.
