Google’s AI Satellite Sends Its First Response to Earth

Google’s AI chip-equipped satellite, which launched earlier this month, just generated its first response from space.

Details:

  • Google says it successfully booted up the satellite’s TPUs, allowing its onboard Gemma 4 model to respond to a prompt to write a haiku about being in space.

  • Google also tested other space-themed limericks and prompts asking the satellite to report telemetry data.

  • The test is part of Project Suncatcher, an experimental initiative exploring the possibility of building AI data centers in space.

  • Google will continue testing how the TPUs perform under thermal stress and radiation exposure, both of which can affect hardware in orbit.

The next milestone is planned for 2027, when Google aims to launch twin interconnected satellites.

It's time to set up your holiday streaming campaign

Are you ready to reach holiday shoppers on CTV? For many streamers, the season is already underway.

Last year, according to Roku internal data, holiday content searches on Roku saw an 86% increase during October. And in November, those searches rise an average of 39% weekly. This surging holiday spirit is mirrored by consumer activity, as about half of Roku streamers shopped Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in 2025.

Meeting those shoppers is easier than you might think. Begin with the seasonal outcome you hope to drive: awareness, online sales, leads, store visits, or another measurable goal. From there, define your audience, upload your creative, set the budget and campaign dates, and establish measurement before launching. You can even create a shoppable ad unit that lets streamers buy with a click of their remote.

Our holiday playbook offers a month-by-month guide to reaching shoppers during this all-important time of year.

First-time spenders get a $5,000 match on the first $5,000 spent with code BEEHIIV5K. Terms apply.

OPENAI

OpenAI Is Merging ChatGPT’s Chat and Work Tabs

OpenAI is preparing to combine Chat and Work into a single experience in the ChatGPT desktop app.

Details:

  • OpenAI is initially making the redesigned experience available to select users for feedback before a wider rollout.

  • The change was announced in an email to users, saying it will “enable you to move from exploring an idea to having ChatGPT carry it through, all in one place.”

  • Codex will remain a separate experience in the ChatGPT desktop app.

  • OpenAI also said ChatGPT and Codex will now share the same token allowance, and while most users won’t notice, some may need to wait for resets more often depending on usage and model.

The move follows a similar change from Anthropic, which merged Claude’s chat and Cowork features into one interface in September.

Go to ChatGPT and try these prompts:

  1. Find products that match your needs and budget

I'm looking to buy [product type] for [intended use]. My maximum budget is [$X]. My top three priorities are [priorities]. Recommend five options, explain the pros and cons of each, identify the best value for money, and tell me which features aren't worth paying extra for. Use current sources where possible and link to the evidence.
  1. Compare products before deciding which one to buy

Compare [Product A] and [Product B] for my needs: [describe how I'll use them]. Build a side-by-side comparison of performance, durability, ease of use, warranty, running costs, and price. Highlight the meaningful differences, flag any trade-offs, and recommend one based on my priorities. Verify specifications against manufacturer sources.

Daily game submissions to Itch.io have reportedly doubled in just two months, raising questions about the growing use of AI in indie game development. The platform's data does not identify which games were made with AI, so the exact role of the technology remains unclear.

The company is reportedly planning a public relations campaign after the US midterm elections to shape the debate around AI, including proposals for AI development speed limits, global standards and ways to highlight the technology’s benefits. Chief global affairs officer Chris Lehane also suggested calling data centers “AI compute campuses” as the company faces growing public opposition to new infrastructure projects.
