OpenAI Releases GPT-5.4 Mini and Nano, Its 'Most Capable Small Models Yet'

Earlier this month, OpenAI launched GPT-5.4 for its higher tiers. Now it is introducing mini and nano variants of that model designed for fast, efficient, high-volume AI workloads.

Details:

  • GPT-5.4 mini significantly improves over GPT-5 mini across coding, reasoning, multimodal understanding, and tool use, while running more than 2x faster.

  • It also approaches the performance of the larger GPT-5.4 model on several evaluations, including SWE-Bench Pro and OSWorld-Verified.

  • GPT-5.4 nano is the smallest, cheapest version of GPT-5.4 for tasks where speed and cost matter most, and a “significant upgrade” over GPT-5 nano.

  • The company recommends using nano for classification, data extraction, ranking, and coding subagents that handle simpler supporting tasks.

In ChatGPT, GPT‑5.4 mini is available to Free and Go users via the “Thinking” feature in the + menu. The model is also available through the OpenAI API and Codex, while nano is available solely through the API, both at significantly lower costs compared to GPT-5.4.

Your Docs Deserve Better Than You

Hate writing docs? Same.

Mintlify built something clever: swap "github.com" with "mintlify.com" in any public repo URL and get a fully structured, branded documentation site.

Under the hood, AI agents study your codebase before writing a single word. They scrape your README, pull brand colors, analyze your API surface, and build a structural plan first. The result? Docs that actually make sense, not the rambling, contradictory mess most AI generators spit out.

Parallel subagents then write each section simultaneously, slashing generation time nearly in half. A final validation sweep catches broken links and loose ends before you ever see it.

What used to take weeks of painful blank-page staring is now a few minutes of editing something that already exists.

Try it on any open-source project you love. You might be surprised how close to ready it already is.

MICROSOFT

Microsoft Reorganizes Copilot Leadership to Focus on AI Model Development

Microsoft is reshaping its Copilot leadership structure, aiming to streamline its AI efforts and put more focus on building advanced models.

Details:

  • Satya Nadella appointed Jacob Andreou to lead the Copilot experience across both consumer and enterprise products.

  • Microsoft is merging its commercial and consumer Copilot engineering teams to simplify development and improve adoption.

  • Other executives, including Ryan Roslansky, Perry Clarke, and Charles Lamanna, will oversee Microsoft 365 apps and the Copilot platform.

  • The Copilot moves will free up Mustafa Suleyman to shift his focus toward the company's superintelligence efforts, hoping to "deliver world-class models over the next 5 years."

  • Copilot currently trails competitors, with about 6 million daily users compared to ChatGPT and Gemini, which have significantly larger user bases.

Microsoft will continue leveraging models from partners like OpenAI, but the reorganization reflects its intention to strengthen its AI strategy, focusing on core model development while improving Copilot's reach and competitiveness.

How to use the new ChatGPT app integrations

The app integrations inside ChatGPT allow you to connect your accounts directly and ask the assistant to do things for you with simple prompts.

To get started:

  1. Go to ChatGPT and sign in.

  2. In the left sidebar, select the Apps option.

  3. Browse the available apps and connect the ones you want.

Here are some of the available apps and what you can do with them:

When requesting a quote or selecting a contractor, they are directed to Angi's platform to complete the hiring process.

Booking. com
Find hotels based on your dates, budget, and preferences. You can filter results (like “with breakfast included”) and then open the listing to complete your booking.

Canva
Generate designs like presentations, social media posts, or posters. You can specify formats, colors, and styles, then refine everything inside Canva.

Coursera
Discover courses based on your level and goals. You can compare options by rating, duration, and cost, and get a quick overview before enrolling.

DoorDash
Plan meals and automatically add ingredients to your cart. Then review and check out in DoorDash. (Currently limited to U.S. users.)

Expedia
Search for flights and hotels based on your trip details. You can filter results and then finalize your booking on Expedia.

Figma
Create diagrams, flowcharts, and product roadmaps. Useful for turning ideas into visuals or organizing workflows for your team.

Quizlet
Turn notes or conversations into flashcards and study sets. You can also practice directly using Quizlet’s learning modes.

Spotify
Create playlists, discover new music, and manage your library. You can generate playlists based on mood or specific artists.

Target
Get product recommendations (like gift ideas or themed shopping lists), add items to your cart, and complete your purchase in Target.

Uber (and Uber Eats)
Find ride options and set up trips, then complete the booking in Uber. You can also browse restaurants and order food via Uber Eats. (Currently U.S. only.)

Wix
Create a website from a simple prompt. You can also manage your site, including scheduling, payments, and SEO.

It enables users to control AI tasks running on their desktop computers directly from their smartphones.

Major companies including Google, Amazon, and OpenAI have signed a new pledge to share intelligence and coordinate efforts against online scams.

The agreement, called the Industry Accord Against Online Scams and Fraud, aims to improve collaboration across platforms as fraud becomes more sophisticated.

It focuses on sharing threat data, deploying AI tools to detect scams faster, strengthening verification systems, and improving reporting channels for users.

The AI-powered design platform has introduced a new AI agent marketplace that lets creators “hire” assistants to handle tasks like resizing content, editing images, and managing online stores.

The platform aims to shift creators from doing manual work to overseeing AI driven workflows.

The tool allows commercial websites to verify a real human is behind an agent's purchasing decisions. The system connects your AI shopping agents to your World ID, created by staring into an Orb device for 30 seconds while it maps your iris.

A panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit has sanctioned two attorneys for submitting legal filings containing fabricated case citations, ordering them to pay a total of $30,000.

The judges said the filings showed signs of AI hallucinations and criticized the lawyers for failing to verify their work. The attorneys, however, denied the allegations and plan to challenge the ruling.
