Google Launches Native Gemini App for Mac

Google announced it is launching a new Gemini app on Mac that allows users to interact with the AI assistant without switching windows on their desktop.

Details:

  • The Gemini Mac app lets users access the assistant instantly with a shortcut (Option + Space).

  • Users can share their screen or local files with Gemini, enabling real-time help based on what they’re currently viewing.

  • The app can assist with tasks like summarizing charts, verifying information, or helping with spreadsheets, making it more integrated into daily workflows.

  • It also supports image generation with Nano Banana and video creation with Veo.

  • The app is now available globally for macOS 15 and later. Users can download it from gemini.google/mac.

With this launch, the tech giant is catching up to rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic, which have had Mac apps for a while now.

Allbirds Announces Pivot from Shoes to AI, Shares Soar over 700%

Allbirds is shifting away from footwear to focus on AI infrastructure, a move that triggered a massive spike in its stock despite ongoing skepticism.

Details:

  • The company plans to rebrand as NewBird AI and transition into an AI compute infrastructure business through a $50 million deal.

  • Its strategy centers on buying GPUs and offering on-demand compute and cloud services, targeting the growing demand for AI processing power.

  • The announcement sent shares soaring more than 700%, although the company’s valuation remains far below its 2021 peak.

  • Allbirds will offload its footwear brand to American Exchange Group, signaling a full exit from its original business.

The pivot comes after years of financial struggles, with the company failing to achieve consistent profitability since going public.

How to use Google Chrome's new "Skills" feature

Google is rolling out "Skills," a new Chrome feature that lets users save frequently used AI prompts and reuse them with a single click.

  1. Click on "Ask Gemini" in the top right corner.

  2. In the text box, enter your prompt as usual, and once you get an answer, an option to "Save as Skill" will appear next to the prompt in the chat window.

  1. An Add Skill form will appear, give it a name, and click Save.

  1. To use a saved Skill, type forward slash ( / ) and select your Skill. It will run on the page you're viewing, along with any other tabs you select (to add an open tab directly in your prompt, enter @ and select the tab).

  1. You can visit the list of skills at any time by navigating to chrome://skills/yourSkills in your browser address bar. There you can also edit them or add new ones at any time.

  1. You can also check Google's library of ready-to-use Skills for common tasks and workflows by clicking on "Browse Skills" or going to chrome://skills/browse.

Skills in Chrome are rolling out on Mac, Windows, and ChromeOS to users with their Chrome language set to English-US. (If you see a "Not Found" page, then Chrome Skills has not yet been rolled out to you.)

AI Agents Are Reading Your Docs. Are You Ready?

Last month, 48% of visitors to documentation sites across Mintlify were AI agents—not humans.

Claude Code, Cursor, and other coding agents are becoming the actual customers reading your docs. And they read everything.

This changes what good documentation means. Humans skim and forgive gaps. Agents methodically check every endpoint, read every guide, and compare you against alternatives with zero fatigue.

Your docs aren't just helping users anymore—they're your product's first interview with the machines deciding whether to recommend you.

That means:
→ Clear schema markup so agents can parse your content
→ Real benchmarks, not marketing fluff
→ Open endpoints agents can actually test
→ Honest comparisons that emphasize strengths without hype

In the agentic world, documentation becomes 10x more important. Companies that make their products machine-understandable will win distribution through AI.

ChatGPT has gone from an 80% male user base at launch in late 2022 to an even 50/50 gender split by early 2025, when it had 400 million users. That balance has held as the platform continues to grow, now reaching 900 million users.

Anthropic is reportedly drawing strong interest from venture capital firms at valuations as high as $800 billion, more than double its current value, though it has not agreed to a new funding round. The company is also said to be considering an IPO as early as this year.

The company has introduced a new AI assistant designed to automate tasks across its creative tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. The assistant can take high-level instructions and execute them across multiple apps. It will also connect with Anthropic’s Claude, allowing broader access to its capabilities.

The new audio model comes with improved controllability, expressivity, and quality, and introduces audio tags for controlling vocal style, delivery, and pace with natural language commands, with support for 70+ languages.
