ANTHROPIC
Anthropic Takes Shot at OpenAI, Says Claude Will Remain 'Ad-Free'

Anthropic announced in a blog post that Claude will remain ad-free, while also taking a shot at OpenAI on one of the biggest stages possible.
Details:
The company assured that Claude users will not see ads or sponsored links near their conversations, and the chatbot's answers will not be influenced by third-party product placements.
The personal nature of users' conversations with Claude would make ads feel "incongruous" and "in many cases, inappropriate," the company said.
To hammer the point home, the company is releasing a Super Bowl commercial that mocks rivals for adding ads to their AI, and while it doesn't mention ChatGPT by name, the target is obvious.
It's not clear how much Anthropic is spending on the Super Bowl campaign, but reports say the price of ad spots in this year's Super Bowl went for $8 million for 30 seconds.
There have also been growing rumors that the company is preparing to drop Claude Sonnet 5 as soon as next week, though Anthropic has not yet confirmed this.

Google Gemini Will Make Switching From ChatGPT Much Easier

Google is preparing a new feature for Gemini that could lower one of the biggest barriers to switching AI chatbots: losing your conversation history.
Details:
Google is developing an “Import AI chats” tool that would let users migrate past conversations from other AI platforms, such as ChatGPT or Claude, into Gemini.
The feature works by having users download their chat history from another service and then upload that file into Gemini, allowing conversational context to carry over.
While the tool does not appear to support importing long-term “memories” or preferences, it still reduces ecosystem lock-in by preserving chat history built up over months or years.
The option has appeared in Gemini’s attachments menu with a beta label, suggesting the feature is already being tested internally and could roll out soon.
Alongside chat importing, Google is also working on several Gemini upgrades: Nano Banana Pro's ability to download images in 2K or 4K resolution with options optimized for sharing or printing, and a "Likeness" tool aimed at verifying whether video content is AI-generated, though that feature appears further from launch.
