Anthropic Launches Claude Fable 5.1 With Lower Costs and Fewer False Positives

Anthropic introduced Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1, which the company says are the "world's most advanced models for coding and knowledge work."

Details:

• Claude Fable 5.1 matches or beats Fable 5 at lower effort levels and delivers stronger performance at higher effort, outperforming Opus 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol across several benchmarks.

• Claude Mythos 5.1 is identical to Fable 5.1, but it offers more permissive safeguards for vetted individuals and organizations.

• The model includes invisible watermarking for generated text, while Anthropic is testing a detection API that can identify Claude-generated content for eligible organizations.

• Fable 5.1 costs approximately 25 percent less than Fable 5 for typical workloads, and up to 45% less for highly agentic tasks, because of a reduction in cache-read pricing.

• Anthropic also said it improved its safeguards, ensuring they're less likely to flag benign content. Medical or biology questions will now see 85% fewer interventions, while Claude Code users can expect an average of around 60% fewer interventions per session.

• Fable 5.1 can now be used to discover software vulnerabilities, but not develop exploits for them

Claude Fable 5.1 is available immediately on all platforms, while Mythos 5.1 is limited to U.S. companies and individuals participating in Anthropic's trusted access programs.

Fei-Fei Li's World Labs Unveils New World Model

World Labs has unveiled Atlas, a new world model that can generate and modify photorealistic, interactive virtual environments based on text, image and video prompts.

Details:

• Unlike models focused on a single task, Atlas is designed to understand how a scene looks, behaves, and changes across space and time.

• The model allows users to create a three-dimensional environment and view it from any camera position and angle they specify.

• World Labs says Atlas outperforms more specialized models on two key evaluations: camera-conditioned generation and 3D reconstruction.

Atlas is entering early access with select partners and is expected to power future versions of World Labs’ Marble platform and other products.

How to Get Google AI Pro Free for an Entire Year

1. College students get one year free

The company is offering Google AI plans free of charge to eligible college students around the world.

For eligible college students in the U.S., the company offers one year of Google AI Pro for free. This plan unlocks 4x higher usage limits in Gemini, access to Gemini Spark, Gemini in Google apps like Gmail and Google Docs, 5 TB of storage, Google Health Premium, and more.

Eligible college students outside the U.S. can get one year of Google AI Plus, free of charge. This offer provides access to Gemini Omni, 2x higher usage limits in Gemini, 400 GB of storage, and more.

2. Get a free year with a new device

Buying certain Google devices can include a complimentary Google AI Pro subscription. Current offers include 12 months with a Chromebook Plus, three months with a standard Chromebook, or six months with a Pixel 11.

3. Family members can tag along

Up to five family members of a Google AI Pro subscriber can get select AI Pro benefits, including AI features and 5TB storage, at no extra cost. If someone in your family already has AI Pro, you can join their plan for free, or split the cost with them.

A law firm representing victims and families of the Tumbler Ridge shooting is filing 30 additional lawsuits against OpenAI, including claims from teachers, a principal and students who were present during the attack. The new complaints accuse OpenAI of aiding and abetting the shooting and allege the company failed to act on warnings about the suspect’s ChatGPT activity, claims OpenAI strongly denies.
