Alibaba Unveils Preview of Its Flagship Qwen3.8 Max AI Model
Alibaba has released a preview of Qwen3.8-Max, its latest flagship AI model, claiming it delivers performance comparable to leading frontier AI models, second only to Anthropic's Fable 5.

Qwen3.8-Max is now available in preview through Alibaba's developer platforms, including Qoder.
The company says the model has 2.4 trillion parameters (fewer than Kimi K3's 2.8 trillion), though it provided no further technical specifications.
Alibaba plans to make the model open-weight "soon," expanding access beyond the preview release.
The announcement comes just days after Moonshot AI's debut of Kimi K3, underscoring the breakneck pace of AI development among Chinese labs. The open-weight wave out of China shows no signs of slowing.

TikTok Tests AI Tool to Detect Unauthorized Deepfakes of Creators
TikTok has begun testing a new opt-in feature that helps creators identify and report AI-generated content that may be using their likeness without permission.
Details:
The tool scans TikTok for AI-generated videos that appear to use a creator's face or identity, allowing creators to review and report potential deepfakes.
The feature is currently being tested with a limited group of creators in the U.S., with broader availability yet to be announced.
To access the tool, creators must first verify their identity through a selfie scan and ID check handled by identity verification provider Jumio.
According to TikTok, ID documents are not stored, and facial data is used only to match a creator's likeness and detect potential unauthorized AI content.
Once verified, creators receive a list of suspected AI-generated impersonations, making it easier to flag unauthorized videos and accounts for review.
This is the latest in a growing set of efforts by social media platforms to give creators more control over their digital identity as AI-generated content becomes harder to distinguish from the real thing

OpenAI is introducing more frequent break reminders for teens who spend extended periods using ChatGPT. The company will also notify parents if a teen’s account is suspended for violating policies related to violent threats or acts of violence online.
Google has delayed the release of its flagship AI model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, which had been expected to launch in June. According to Bloomberg, the company has been taking extra time to improve the model's capabilities, particularly in coding, after internal results fell short of expectations.
The streaming giant has disclosed that it paid $587 million to acquire InterPositive, the AI company founded by Ben Affleck, in March 2026. The company develops AI tools designed to improve visual effects and post-production while preserving filmmakers' creative control.
The company announced on X that "demand has pushed close to the limits of our current capacity," following the recent release of its new Kimi K3 model. It will prioritize compute for current members so they aren't affected. New slots will open up gradually, and the company also announced that it is splitting its subscription model into two tiers.
The serach giant has expanded AI Mode to let users connect and interact with select third-party apps, including Instacart, Canva, and YouTube. The feature is rolling out to users in the U.S., with support for more apps planned in the future.
