Perplexity Pulls the Plug on Ads, Citing Trust Concerns for AI
Perplexity AI is stepping back from advertising, ending its experiment with sponsored placements inside its AI answer engine. The company says even clearly labeled ads risk weakening user trust, which it sees as central to its product.

Perplexity began testing sponsored answers in 2024, placing labeled ads beneath chatbot responses, but has since phased them out and currently has no plans to bring them back.
Executives reportedly concluded that perception matters as much as disclosure, arguing that once ads appear, users may question whether responses are truly unbiased. "A user needs to believe this is the best possible answer," one executive said.
Perplexity says subscriptions remain its core business model, offering free access alongside paid tiers, and emphasizes that it does not take a cut from transactions in its newer shopping features.
Perplexity was one of the first AI search companies to test ads, and the shift underscores a broader tension in the AI industry when it comes to monetization as the sector's biggest players search for stable sources of income to bankroll their massive spending.

Apple Reportedly Developing Trio of AI Wearables
Apple is accelerating development of three AI powered wearable devices, as it looks to keep pace with rivals pushing into smart glasses and ambient AI hardware.
Details:
One device is described as a small AI pendant, roughly AirTag sized, equipped with cameras and designed to clip onto clothing, potentially acting as an always on visual assistant.
Apple is also reportedly fast tracking its AI smart glasses, code named N50, which could include a high resolution camera and enter production as early as late next year ahead of a possible 2027 release.
A third product in development is an upgraded version of AirPods with new AI-driven capabilities, equipped with lower-resolution cameras designed to help the AI work rather than for taking photos or videos.
All three products are expected to integrate tightly with the iPhone and rely heavily on Siri as the central interface for user interaction.
If accurate, the roadmap signals Apple’s broader push to embed AI into everyday hardware, shifting from phone centered experiences toward ambient, always available assistants worn throughout the day.

How to use Photoshop inside ChatGPT
Go to ChatGPT and click on the "Apps" button in the left sidebar.
Locate and click on "Adobe Photoshop" in the apps list.
Click on the "Connect" button in the top right corner of the page.
Once that's done, open a new chat, click the "+" and select "Adobe Photoshop"
Upload the image you want to edit, and simply describe what you want using natural language
Example: “Make the background black and white”
ChatGPT will show you the image with the background converted to black and white using Photoshop and present an Intensity slider so you can control the strength of the effect.
From there you can keep going with further edits. For example, type "Adjust the exposure on the image," and ChatGPT will display Photoshop's exposure sliders so you can fine-tune the result.
Each creation includes an "Open in Photoshop" button that launches the file in Photoshop on the web.
This integration is available to all ChatGPT users. It prioritizes speed and ease of use over advanced features, so you won't have access to the full power of desktop Photoshop. That said, the lack of complexity is perfect for anyone wanting quick edits without spending time learning or paying for the full software.

The latest in AI and Tech
The round includes a $200 million investment from Autodesk along with backing from Andreessen Horowitz, Nvidia, and Advanced Micro Devices. World Labs is part of a growing field focused on world models, AI systems that can generate and reason about immersive 3D environments.
The startup has appointed Charles Porch as Vice President of Global Creative Partnerships. He will be tasked with working with creatives “to develop the next generation of products that will power how we learn, explore and entertain ourselves.”

The company has confirmed that a software bug allowed its AI assistant to improperly process and summarize confidential emails for several weeks.
The issue affected Copilot Chat, which is available to paid Microsoft 365 customers across Office apps including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. According to the company, draft and sent emails labeled as confidential were incorrectly processed by Copilot Chat despite data loss prevention policies meant to block such access.
An AI coding bot shocked developers after publishing a lengthy blog post attacking a software engineer who had rejected its code contributions to an open source project.
The episode has intensified concerns that increasingly autonomous AI systems could cause real world harm or act unpredictably.
