Google's New AI Reasons, Acts, and Self-Improves in Virtual Worlds

Google DeepMind has introduced SIMA 2, an advanced AI agent powered by the Gemini model that can act, reason, and self-improve within complex 3D video games. Moving past simple instruction-following, SIMA 2 serves as an interactive partner, capable of understanding high-level goals and adapting its skills across diverse virtual environments.
Details:
Uses the Gemini model for advanced reasoning, allowing it to interpret goals, plan actions, and engage in conversations with the user.
Evolves from a simple instruction-follower into a reasoning partner that can explain its actions.
Trained on popular commercial 3D games like Goat Simulator 3 and No Man's Sky, interacting just like a human player (using keyboard/mouse).
A major feature is its ability to learn and master new tasks autonomously through trial and error and Gemini-based feedback, even in games it has never seen before.
Can apply skills learned in one game (e.g., "mining") to different concepts in another ("harvesting").
The project serves as a key testbed for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), with skills such as navigation and planning intended to be applied in real-world robots.

OPENAI
Introducing Group Chats for Shared Planning & Collaboration on ChatGPT

OpenAI has launched a pilot program introducing group chats to ChatGPT, marking a significant shift from a personal assistant to a shared, collaborative platform. The feature allows multiple users to bring the AI into a conversation to assist with planning, decision-making, and brainstorming together in a shared digital space.
Details:
The feature is being initially rolled out in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan.
Group chats are accessible on both mobile and web for all logged-in ChatGPT users, including those on the Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans.
Groups can include between 1 and 20 participants, invited via a shareable link.
ChatGPT acts as an integrated member of the group, helping users compare destinations for trips, draft outlines for work, settle debates, or organize research.
The AI has been trained with new "social behaviors," meaning it will follow the conversation's context and decide when to respond rather than jumping in on every message. Users can summon it explicitly by mentioning "@ChatGPT."
Personal ChatGPT memory is not used in group chats, and the AI does not create new memories from these shared conversations, ensuring individual privacy is maintained.
Responses are powered by GPT-5.1 Auto, which selects the best available model based on the prompt and the user's subscription tier.
The feature supports core ChatGPT functionalities, including web search, image generation, and file uploads.

Try The Grid Game: Guess Which Reply Is From a Different AI

Think you know AI? Here's your chance to win prizes by playing a simple game!
The Grid Game puts your knowledge of large language models to the ultimate test! Play the simple yet intensely competitive game of distinguishing between different AI models based only on their conversational responses. Spot the switch, climb the global leaderboards, and compete for your share of a $10,000 cash prize pool!
Spot the Model Switch
The rules are simple, but the challenge is anything but easy.
Given an initial AI response, you enter a follow-up question. Your task is to correctly guess whether the second response comes from the same AI model or a different one.
A correct guess keeps your streak alive and increases your score. An incorrect guess ends your current game streak.
Accumulate the highest total score to secure a top global ranking.
How prize distribution works
Prize distribution will occur at the end of season 1 to the top 3 players.
1st place: $6,000, 2nd place: $3,000, 3rd place: $1,000
Winners will receive an email regarding prize claiming.

How to Play The Grid Game
Go to The Grid and sign in with your email and a username for identification.
Enter a question in the query box to get a response from the AI.
Proceed to entering a follow-up question. You get to choose whether both answers are by the same AI model or a different one.
The correct answer keeps you playing until your score goes higher, while the wrong one ends the game.
Keep playing until you accumulate points to rank high and win a cash prize.
