OpenAI Ending Cursor Partnership After SpaceX Acquisition
OpenAI says it will end Cursor’s access to its AI models following SpaceX’s $60 billion acquisition of the coding startup, adding another chapter to the long-running conflict between Elon Musk and OpenAI.

OpenAI plans to stop providing its models through Cursor on November 12, 2026, and says it will not provide future models to the platform.
OpenAI said, “We are making this choice because we cannot be confident that SpaceX will use our technology within our terms of service, based on our experience with Elon Musk’s companies violating contracts.”
Cursor CEO Michael Truell said OpenAI models currently account for about 5% of Cursor’s user traffic and that the companies are discussing the decision.
This isn't the first time such a move has happened in the industry. Last June, Anthropic blocked Windsurf's access to its Claude models. This time, however, Anthropic took the opportunity to reaffirm its support for Claude in Cursor, saying they're "excited for what comes next with them at SpaceX."
OpenAI's decision to move away from Cursor is part of a long-running feud with Musk, who responded on Saturday, saying, "I couldn't care less. Scam Altman and Greg Stockman are utterly untrustworthy."

Instagram Cracks Down on AI Profiles Pretending to Be Human
Instagram is taking new steps to make AI-generated people easier to identify, targeting accounts that present artificial profiles as real humans without properly disclosing it.

Instagram is renaming its “AI creator” label to “AI-generated profile” to make it clearer when an account features a person who does not actually exist.
The platform will identify AI-generated profiles that fail to disclose themselves and limit their reach, preventing their posts from being recommended to non-followers through Reels and Explore.
Account owners will be able to appeal if Instagram incorrectly determines that their profile is AI-generated and applies the reach restriction.
The change specifically targets AI-generated people used as profiles, rather than all AI-created content. Users who simply use AI tools to create individual posts will not necessarily have to add the new profile label.
Instagram says the move responds to users who are frustrated by discovering that an account they believed belonged to a real person was actually generated by AI.

How to Use NotebookLM to Get More from Your Ebooks
With the new Expert Intelligence feature, you can ask questions about the ebooks you've purchased, as well as generate quizzes, infographics, AI podcasts, and more based on their contents.
Option 1: Start from Google Play Books
Open Google Play Books and find an eligible ebook.
Select the Tools badge. Eligible titles will list Gemini Notebook as an available option.
Option 2: Start from Gemini Notebook
Open Gemini Notebook, select Add Sources, and choose Google Play Books.
Select the book you want to analyze and make sure it appears in your Sources panel.
Enter a prompt based on what you want to learn or summarize. You can also select the options under the "Studio" section if you want to create infographics, audio overviews, etc.
Examples:
a. Create a spoiler-free character guide:
"Create a spoiler-free guide to the characters introduced through Chapter [NUMBER]. For each character, explain who they are, how they are connected to the other characters, and what I should remember about them. Do not reveal anything that happens after this chapter."
b. Apply a book's advice to a real situation:
"Using the principles from Kim Scott's Radical Candor, help me handle the following difficult conversation with an employee: [describe the situation]"
Notes:
Google says more than 100,000 titles are eligible at launch, although the feature won't work with every ebook in your library.
If you share a Notebook that includes a purchased book, a user who doesn't own the title will see it listed as a source, but they won't be able to view the full text or information related to it.

A federal judge on Thursday barred the Trump administration from designating Anthropic a national security risk over a dispute about the use of its AI models, ruling that the designation amounted to unconstitutional retaliation.
Anthropic's temporary 50% usage limit increase for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans will end on September 14. After that, a permanent 25% increase will take its place. The change represents a net 17% reduction in weekly limits, which has sparked some backlash among users.
Barret Zoph, a former Thinking Machines co-founder who returned to OpenAI earlier this year, has joined Google as vice president of research. Zoph previously worked at Google and will bring his reinforcement learning and post-training expertise to the Gemini team.
Sony Music Publishing, Warner Chappell are suing Anthropic, accusing the AI company of illegally downloading and using copyrighted music and books to train Claude. The lawsuit alleges a large-scale piracy campaign involving torrents and scraped content, while Anthropic disputes the claims and says it will defend itself in court.
