Google's Gemini 2.5 Models Are Finally Out of Preview

Google is promoting two of its flagship AI models from experimental preview status to general availability, and is simultaneously introducing Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite preview, a cost-effective option for high-volume tasks.

Details:

• After months of tweaking and tuning, Gemini 2.5 Pro—the current leader in the LLM arena, ahead of OpenAI’s o3—and Gemini 2.5 Flash are leaving preview and are now ready for developers to build on.

• The newly introduced Flash-Lite sacrifices some intelligence for significant cost savings, targeting use cases like classification and translation where speed and volume matter more than advanced reasoning.

• All Gemini 2.5 models include adjustable thinking budgets, making them appealing to users who want greater control over costs.

The models are available in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI for developers.

Adobe Brings Firefly AI Tools to Your Pocket

Adobe has launched a mobile app for its Firefly generative AI tools, now available on iPhone and Android.

Details:

• The Firefly app includes text-to-image, text-to-video, and image-to-video features, along with Generative Fill and Expand tools from Photoshop.

• Users can also access models third-party AI models when using Firefly features, like Google’s Imagen 3 and 4, Veo 2 and 3, and OpenAI’s image generator.

• Some features require Firefly credits, available through Creative Cloud plans or a dedicated Firefly credit subscription.

• Additionally, Adobe’s Firefly Boards now support video remixing and generation, with new partner models like Luma AI and Runway Gen-4.

Anything made in the app syncs automatically with Creative Cloud, making it easy to continue projects on desktop or web.

How to create and edit images with ChatGPT in WhatsApp

You can now create viral AI-generated images with ChatGPT inside WhatsApp.

1. Save the number: +1 (800) 242-8478 on your device and add it as a new contact.

2. Search for the ChatGPT contact on WhatsApp and start a chat.

3. Simply type a prompt like “Create an image of...” to generate one from scratch.

4. You can also upload a picture and ask the AI to edit it using natural language.

If you hit the free limit but have ChatGPT Plus, WhatsApp will show a link to connect your account and unlock more image generations.

Note: If you’re outside of the US, then you’ll need to add them as a US contact.

It offers users 20× more usage on AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and xAI compared to the company’s $20-per-month Pro plan. Users on the Ultra plan also get priority access to new features.

Google Gemini app now lets you analyse your own videos

The Gemini app can now understand and respond to questions about videos you upload. The feature is rolling out gradually on iOS and Android, so it might not be available for you yet. It’s also not available on the web.
