Google Adds Gemini to Chrome Browser

Google just announced a suite of new features that deeply embed Gemini into Chrome for all U.S. Mac and Windows desktop users.
Details:
Chrome is getting a dedicated Gemini button so users can ask the chatbot about the page they’re viewing. It also works across tabs, making it easy to compare and summarize information from multiple sites.
Gemini will soon be able to retrieve web pages users previously visited, answering questions like “On which site did I see the coffee table last week?”
A deeper integration between Gemini in Chrome and apps like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps will let users schedule meetings, check locations, and more without leaving the page they’re on.
AI Mode is coming to the Chrome address bar later this month for quicker access to advanced search.
The company also plans to add agentic capabilities to Gemini in Chrome “in the coming months,” enabling it to handle tedious tasks like booking restaurants or ordering groceries.
Other updates include an AI-powered password agent that lets users fix compromised passwords with a single click on supported sites, and a new Gemini Nano model in Chrome to help detect and block scams.
With these updates, Google is preparing to face growing competition from AI-fueled browsers like Comet and Dia, as well as from OpenAI, which is rumored to be working on its own browser.

Users can now share their custom versions of Google’s Gemini chatbot just like any Google Drive file, with options to control who can view or edit your Gem.
The company is introducing agents that can complete multiple actions at once, generating notes, reports, dashboards, and more using context from Notion pages and external sources like Slack, email, and Google Drive.
It also announced that users will soon be able to create their own customized agents that run on schedules or triggers.
The company will purchase shares at $23.28 each, following the U.S. government’s 10% stake in Intel last month. The partnership will have Intel producing custom chips for Nvidia’s AI data center platforms and PCs.
CEO Jensen Huang called it a “fusion of two world-class platforms.”
The company has now raised over $3 billion, more than doubling its valuation since August 2024.
Groq builds LPUs (language processing units) as an alternative to Nvidia’s GPUs, offering AI performance at lower costs.
