Meta Launches Its First AI Coding Agent

Meta has introduced Muse Code, its first AI coding agent, as the company expands its AI developer tools to compete with offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic.

Details:

• Muse Code is designed to help developers complete software engineering tasks, including planning code changes, writing code, and validating results across projects.

• The coding agent is powered by Muse Spark 1.2, Meta's latest AI model, which is a coding-focused update to Muse Spark 1.1, with improvements in code generation, complex debugging, codebase understanding, and end-to-end developer workflows.

• Developers can access Muse Code through a pay-as-you-go API, with pricing similar to Muse Spark. Meta is also offering a lower-cost contributor tier for users who opt in to share data that helps improve the models.

• Meta says the platform will also support zero-data retention for enterprise customers, allowing developers to use the service without their data being retained for model training.

The launch is part of Meta's broader AI strategy under Meta Superintelligence Labs, as the company continues investing in developer tools and infrastructure to compete in the rapidly growing AI coding market.

An OpenAI Researcher Quit to Build Telepathy at a Startup Called Conduit

AI researcher and chess champion Naomi Bashkansky has left OpenAI to join Conduit, a startup developing technology that aims to convert brain activity directly into text using non-invasive neural interfaces.

Details:

• Bashkansky, who worked on AI alignment and model safety at OpenAI, joined Conduit as a founding researcher after leaving the company in late July.

• Conduit is developing thought-to-text models trained on non-invasive neural data, with the long-term goal of allowing people to communicate with AI systems directly through brain signals instead of typing or speaking.

• The company plans to train its models by pairing users' neural activity with tasks they're performing, such as writing text, while collecting significantly larger neural datasets than previous academic research.

• Bashkansky predicts that future AI systems could understand complex thoughts (including mental images) more naturally through neural interfaces, making AI feel like an extension of the user rather than a separate tool.

Bashkansky said she joined Conduit for its 'audacious yet practical' vision, its team, and the research challenges it's tackling. She believes the company could one day be worth over $1 trillion.

Gemini prompts to try in Google Workspace

Connect Gemini to your Google Workspace account if you haven't already.

Once that's done, open Gmail or Google Docs, click on the neon-colored Gemini icon to open its sidebar, and try these prompts:

1. Use this prompt to quickly summarize long email conversations:

"Summarize this email thread into 3–5 short bullet points."

2. Catch up on unread emails with:

"Summarize my unread emails from the last [timeframe]. Give me the key updates and flag any urgent action items."

3. Thread recap:

"Review the long email thread in @Gmail with the subject "[subject line]". Give me a bulleted summary of the final consensus, and list out any remaining open questions."

4. Before a meeting, combine information from Gmail and Google Docs:

"Look at the meeting agenda in @Docs titled '[document name]'. Then check @Gmail for recent updates from [colleague]. What outstanding issues should I bring up?"

5. Get a meeting briefing with:

"Prepare me a briefing for my meeting today. Summarize the key points from this document and tell me the top questions I should be prepared to answer."

6. Turn rough notes into a structured document:

"Take the rough notes from my email draft titled "[draft name]" in @Gmail and turn them into a structured outline for a project brief. Use clear headings for Objectives, Deliverables, and Next Steps."

7. Edit emails before sending them:

"I need to send this email: [paste draft]. Edit it to be 50% shorter, keeping only the essential information and a clear call to action. Remove unnecessary filler."

You can also reference specific emails or documents in the Gemini app by using the '@' sign to mention them.

The company has made its FLUX 3 Video model generally available through the BFL API and select partners. The company reported that AI-driven visits and orders to Shopify stores tripled year-over-year, as AI tools help shoppers find products based on specific needs instead of simple keywords.

Suno announces plans to implement a new watermarking technology

AI music platform Suno is introducing audio watermarking, fingerprinting, and stricter content policies. The company says the new measures are designed to make AI-generated songs easier to identify, reduce misuse on streaming platforms, and discourage copycat content.
