Google's Imagen 2 Expands Capabilities with Text-to-Live and Image Editing 🎨

Google has announced several exciting updates to its Imagen 2 image generation model. The latest advancements include the introduction of text-to-live capabilities, allowing users to transform text prompts into animated images, as well as the general availability of advanced image editing features.
Details:
Imagen 2 now offers text-to-live functionality, generating animated images equivalent to animated GIFs with a resolution of 360x640 pixels and a duration of four seconds at 24 frames per second.
Google plans to continuously enhance the text-to-live capabilities, including the ability to create images using a variety of camera angles and motions while maintaining consistency throughout the sequence.
The newly available image editing features include inpainting (adding or removing elements from a photo), and outpainting (expanding the borders of an image).
Imagen 2 was launched in 2023 and is positioned to compete with OpenAI's DALL-E, Midjourney, and Adobe's Firefly. Users can try Imagen 2 by signing up for a free Google Cloud account and accessing it through the Vertex AI suite.

Meta to Release Smaller Versions of Llama 3 Before Major Model Debut
According to a Meta employee, Meta plans to release two smaller versions of its Llama model next week, in order to build anticipation for the major release of Llama 3 scheduled for this summer.
Details:
The smaller models will specialize in text generation, while the larger Llama 3 model will be multimodal, capable of generating images and answering questions about images.
The full Llama 3 model is expected to have around 140 billion parameters, potentially twice the size of the previous Llama 2 model, as Meta aims to catch up to OpenAI's GPT-4.
In recent months, the Meta team has worked to make Llama 3 more open to answering controversial questions, with the goal of providing more context and responsiveness to users.
Meta's investment in AI has intensified, with the company planning to have about 600,000 graphics cards in use for AI training by the end of the year. These new open-source models will showcase the results of that investment.
