CEOs of leading AI companies met with G7 leaders in France to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, international AI rules, and cooperation on the emerging technology.

President Trump joined senior administration officials and G7 leaders for a closed-door AI working session that included executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta, Mistral AI, Cohere, and Salesforce.
The discussions focused on AI safety, cybersecurity risks, children's online safety, access to advanced AI models, and international coordination on AI governance.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis reportedly called for a U.S.-led coalition to coordinate global AI standards and manage the safe deployment of frontier AI systems.
Sam Altman proposed an international forum that would develop common AI safety testing standards, provide independent assessments of model capabilities and risks, and facilitate cooperation among democratic nations.
Trump described the meeting as "excellent," emphasizing both AI's enormous economic potential and the need to manage its risks while maintaining U.S. leadership over China.
Meanwhile, world leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced concerns over recent U.S. export restrictions on Anthropic's newest models, warning that the possibility of access to top American AI being cut off from one day to the next could harm both European economies and the AI firms themselves.

Midjourney Launches AI-Powered Full-Body Ultrasound Scanner
Midjourney is expanding beyond AI image generation with Midjourney Medical, introducing an ultrasound-based full-body scanner designed to provide fast, radiation-free 3D body imaging and long-term health tracking.

The Midjourney Scanner, the company's first hardware product, uses a ring of thousands of ultrasound transducers to capture detailed 3D images of the body's muscles, fat, bones, organs, and other internal structures in roughly 60 seconds.
Developed in partnership with Butterfly Network, the system incorporates 40 Butterfly Ultrasound-on-Chip™ imaging modules and approximately two petaflops of computing power to reconstruct full-body scans from ultrasonic signals.
Unlike CT scans or X-rays, the scanner relies on ultrasound, avoiding radiation exposure. Midjourney CEO David Holz said the long-term goal is to deliver image quality that is comparable to, or in some applications eventually exceeds, MRI.
Midjourney envisions the scanner being used regularly, potentially as often as daily, to monitor changes in body composition, muscle growth, fat distribution, and other physiological metrics in response to diet, exercise, or lifestyle changes.
The company also plans to open a Midjourney Spa in San Francisco's Union Square before the end of 2027, featuring approximately 10 scanners alongside gyms, saunas, cold plunges, and hot tub-equipped scanning rooms to create a wellness-focused preventive health experience.

Anthropic has become the first AI startup to join Frontier, a coalition that funds carbon removal projects, contributing to a new $915 million funding round that raises Frontier's total commitments to $1.8 billion.

Apple plans to raise product prices as soaring memory chip costs, driven by booming AI demand and supply constraints, make absorbing higher expenses unsustainable, outgoing CEO Tim Cook said. While Apple has not confirmed which products will be affected, analysts expect upcoming devices, including the iPhone 18, could see higher prices.
