OPENAI

OpenAI Gives ChatGPT a Mental Health Upgrade

OpenAI is making changes to its chatbot to help it recognize when someone might be experiencing mental or emotional distress, as part of efforts to promote “healthy use” of ChatGPT.

Details:

  • This comes after stories surfaced about people using the chatbot during mental health crises, with some saying the chatbot seemed to have an amplifying effect on their delusions.

  • OpenAI says it’s working with mental health experts to improve ChatGPT’s ability to better detect signs of mental or emotional distress and its responses in these situations, allowing it to present “evidence-based resources when needed.”

  • The chatbot will be less decisive in “high-stakes” situations, prioritizing walking you through potential choices instead of giving you a direct answer to questions such as “Should I break up with my boyfriend?”

  • It will also remind users to take breaks during long chats, similar to what YouTube and Instagram do.

Meanwhile, Sam Altman teased GPT-5 yesterday in a post on X, sharing a screenshot where he asks the new model to recommend the "most thought-provoking" TV show about AI, as hype builds around the model expected to be launched in just the next few days.

ELEVENLABS

ElevenLabs Rolls Out AI Music Generator for Commercial Use

ElevenLabs, known for its AI voice tools, has just launched a new service called Eleven Music that lets individuals and businesses generate their own music with its AI model.

Details:

  • The company says the music made with this tool is cleared for commercial use, meaning you can use it in your projects without worrying about copyright issues.

  • The AI model generates a tune within minutes, complete with vocals and instrumentals.

  • The company shared some very impressive samples that cover different genres like hip-hop and indie rock, as well as orchestral-style tracks and songs in multiple languages, that sound almost indistinguishable from real music.

  • It also announced deals with Merlin Network and Kobalt Music Group, two digital publishing platforms for independent musicians, to use their materials for AI training.

This is a big step for ElevenLabs, which had mostly focused on text-to-speech and language tools until now and is now betting big on AI music, a space that already has no shortage of competition from tools like Suno, Udio and Mureka.ai.

AI Tutorial

How to make AI videos featuring the exact characters and objects you want

  1. Go to the Kling AI website and sign up to receive daily free credits.

  2. Click on the "AI Videos" option and select the Kling 1.6 model (this feature is currently only available with this model).

  1. Upload up to four images of what you want to see in your video. These can be images of a scene, a person, or even a random item.

  1. Add your prompt: describe exactly what you want to see, making sure to mention each of the elements so the AI knows what to do with them.

Example: "In a café, a cartoon-style elderly man lifts a cup to drink coffee."

  1. Adjust the settings, add a negative prompt or sound effects as needed. (Professional Mode gives you better-quality results, but may take longer and has limited free trials.)

  1. Finally, click Generate, wait for the video to finish, and then download or share it.

The new open-source platform allows for head-to-head comparisons of frontier systems in strategic games, providing “a verifiable and dynamic measure of their capabilities.”

The company says games offer a meaningful evaluation benchmark because they require models to demonstrate a range of skills such as strategic reasoning and long-term planning, providing a robust signal of general problem-solving intelligence.

It has 960 chips, and each one "supports over 2 billion spiking neurons and over 100 billion synapses, approaching the number of neurons in a macaque brain."

The new AI social feed lets users share images, videos, and their chatbots with other users.

The company released a new companion that is meant to be an emo-flavored anime boyfriend, modeled after fictional characters like Edward Cullen and Christian Grey.

Grok AI's Companions are available only to SuperGrok subscribers ($30 per month).

Users will now be able to find and reserve tables at any of OpenTable’s 60,000 global partner restaurants directly through Perplexity’s platform.
