AWS Kiro Boosts AI Coding with 'Powers'

At its 2025 re:Invent conference, Amazon Web Services (AWS) introduced “Kiro powers,” a new capability for its AI coding environment that lets developers dynamically load only the tools and context they need, when they need them. The move aims to tackle a major pain point in AI-assisted coding: resource waste, slow performance, and inflated costs from loading every possible integration upfront.
Details:
Kiro Powers is a system that lets AI coding assistants acquire specialized expertise, from payments to design to observability, on demand, rather than preloading everything.
The initial release supports integrations with nine technology companies, including Stripe (payments), Figma (design), Datadog (observability), Supabase (databases), Netlify (deployment), Postman (API tooling), plus support for Neon, Dynatrace, and AWS’s own services.
Traditional AI-coding assistants often load dozens of tool definitions at once, consuming large portions of the model’s context window (for example, just five integrations can consume ~50,000 tokens, nearly 40% of many models’ context limits). That leads to slower, lower-quality outputs and higher token costs.
Each “power” is packaged as a bundle including a steering file (POWER.md), the MCP (Model Context Protocol) server configuration, and optional automation hooks. The relevant power is activated dynamically when the developer’s task calls for it (e.g., “payment” triggers the Stripe power; “database” triggers Supabase). When inactive, context usage approaches zero.
Because powers load only when needed, they are much more cost-efficient than fine-tuning models; plus, many top AI models (from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) are closed-source, preventing fine-tuning. Kiro Powers gives developers a lighter, practical alternative.
Kiro powers complements a larger suite of AI agents from AWS, including the Kiro autonomous agent, plus security and DevOps agents, all part of AWS’s bet on “agentic AI” for real-world software development workflows.
Kiro powers is available now for developers using version 0.7+ of Kiro IDE, and there’s no additional charge beyond the standard Kiro subscription.

EU Opens Antitrust Investigation Into Meta for Embedding AI in WhatsApp

The European Commission has launched a formal antitrust probe into Meta Platforms, scrutinizing the integration of Meta AI, its AI assistant, into WhatsApp. The investigation reflects Brussels’ growing concern that Meta’s policy changes may unfairly disadvantage rival AI providers and limit competition in the messaging app ecosystem.
Details:
The probe is targeting Meta’s new policy that could block third-party AI chatbots from accessing WhatsApp, while continuing to give Meta AI privileged access.
Meta rolled out Meta AI within WhatsApp across European markets in March 2025.
The policy update affecting external AI providers’ access took effect on October 15, 2025, with a hard cutoff for existing non-Meta chatbots reportedly coming on January 15, 2026.
Regulators fear the move may amount to abuse of dominant market position under traditional EU antitrust rules (not the newer Digital Markets Act).
If found in breach, Meta could face substantial fines, potentially up to 10% of its global annual revenue.
A separate, parallel investigation is already underway in Italy, focusing on similar concerns about Meta’s AI integration in WhatsApp.

Build a Full Web Workflow Using AI

Log into Ripplica to create a New Workflow and name your workflow (e.g., “Check Amazon Product Price”)
Add a trigger to choose and schedule when the workflow should start.
Now you can add your first AI action by either recording your screen while you perform the task or by uploading a ready-made video.

Or you can skip the video and write your task as a series of simple steps in natural language that the AI can understand.

Depending on the process, the AI may require additional steps or certain inputs, like logins, to complete the full workflow.
