Runway’s Solaris AI Generates Software Interfaces in Real Time

Runway has unveiled Solaris, an experimental AI system that generates interactive software interfaces as you use them, instead of relying on traditional prebuilt apps and fixed layouts.

Details:

• Solaris generates interfaces frame by frame in 720p and responds to clicks, drags, or voice commands, creating the interface dynamically rather than translating a design into conventional code.

• It builds on the company's Gen-4.5 video generation model, which the company says it adapted to understand interaction and respond in real time.

• Runway lists several use cases, like online shopping, where it would allow users to interact with products in new ways, such as virtually trying on clothing or changing how a shopping experience is presented.

• Runway believes the technology could potentially make the "app" as a fixed unit disappear, with operating systems generating interfaces based on what users want to accomplish, instead of requiring them to open a specific app.

Runway is currently treating Solaris as a research project and is looking for partners to help explore its potential. The company admits it's still a long way off, acknowledging challenges like generating readable text and maintaining reliability during longer sessions.

'Superhuman' AI Tool Can Spot Heart Disease in Less Than 2 Seconds

Researchers have developed an AI system that can detect signs of heart failure and heart valve disease from a routine ECG almost instantly.

Details:

• Trained on millions of patient records, the AI analyzes information in a standard electrocardiogram (ECG) that may be difficult for humans to detect, potentially revealing signs of heart disease without requiring an immediate ultrasound scan.

• In a trial involving 67,000 patients in the U.S., the system identified up to 81% of heart failure cases and as many as 90% of heart valve disease cases.

• Researchers also see an opportunity to run the AI on ECGs already being performed in hospitals, potentially uncovering undiagnosed heart conditions in patients who were being tested for other reasons.

• The system does not provide a definitive diagnosis on its own. Instead, it identifies patients who are more likely to have a condition and may need additional testing.

The technology could help address long waits for echocardiograms, allowing patients flagged as high risk to be prioritized for scans and potentially begin treatment earlier.

Build and Publish a Website with ChatGPT Sites

1. On web, select Work. In the desktop app, select ChatGPT and then Work, or select Codex.

2. Describe what you want to build, including the content, files, data, links, or constraints ChatGPT should use. Include the word "website" in your prompt, or mention @Sites.

3. Review the preview ChatGPT generates.

4. Ask ChatGPT for changes until the site is ready. You can add relevant files or visual context when they'll help ChatGPT make the change.

5. When you deploy, ChatGPT generates a site URL. You can choose who can visit it and share the resulting link.
