Apple Shakes Up AI Leadership to Strengthen Siri and AI Development

Apple is making moves to strengthen its AI and Siri efforts. The company has reassigned long-time executive Kim Vorrath, known for her work on the original iPhone software and Vision Pro, to its AI and machine learning division
Details:
Vorrath is joining as a 'top deputy' to AI boss John Giannandrea, according to Bloomberg.
Apple’s AI team will focus on revamping the underlying infrastructure of Siri and improving the company’s in-house AI models to eventually make Apple a leader in AI.
The news comes shortly after the current version of Siri faced criticism for not understanding requests and failing to execute simple commands.
The move could also signal that AI is now more important to Apple than the Vision Pro.
This leadership shift signals Apple’s commitment to intensifying its focus on AI, an area where it lags behind competitors like OpenAI and Google, despite announcing its AI and Apple Intelligence initiatives at last year’s WWDC.
