SpaceXAI Debuts Grok 4.6

SpaceXAI just unveiled Grok 4.6, its latest frontier AI model, which Elon Musk claims is "objectively #1 when considering intelligence, speed & cost."

Details:

  • Grok 4.6 is designed for long-running agents, coding, knowledge work, and more ambitious visual projects.

  • The model scored 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, joining the frontier tier while surpassing Kimi K3 (60) and matching GPT-5.6 Sol, trailing only Claude Opus 5 (63) and Claude Fable 5 (62).

  • Where it comes out on top is pricing: $2/$6 per 1M input/output tokens, unchanged from Grok 4.5, putting it 60%+ below Claude Opus 5 ($5/$25) and GPT-5.6 Sol ($5/$30). This places it on the Intelligence vs. Cost per Task Pareto frontier.

  • The model is available through Cursor, Grok Build, the API, and partners including OpenRouter, Vercel, and Cloudflare.

Musk also took the opportunity to hype the next model, Grok 4.7, claiming it will be significantly better and will "exceed all current models," with its release expected "in 3 to 4 weeks."

GAMGEE

The AI-Designed Dog Cancer Vaccine Has Become a Startup

Paul Conyngham, the Australian entrepreneur who made headlines for using AI to help develop a personalized cancer vaccine for his dog, has now launched a startup called Gamgee.

Details:

  • Gamgee aims to develop personalized mRNA cancer vaccines for dogs, using AI and genetic data to design treatments based on an individual animal's tumor.

  • The company grew out of Conyngham's treatment of Rosie, his Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Shar Pei mix. He says he used ChatGPT and computational genomics to design a personalized vaccine, after which several of her tumors reportedly shrank.

  • However, the original case does not prove that the AI-designed vaccine caused Rosie's improvement. Researchers have noted that she received the vaccine alongside another treatment, making it difficult to determine which intervention was responsible.

  • Gamgee is backed by Y Combinator and says it is preparing its first clinical trials in Australia.

The company says it is working with researchers at the University of Queensland and the University of New South Wales, while its longer-term ambition extends beyond veterinary medicine to personalized treatments for humans.
