Amazon to Invest Another $4 Billion in Anthropic 💰

Amazon has announced an additional $4 billion investment in OpenAI rival Anthropic. This brings Amazon's total investment in the company to a staggering $8 billion.

Details:

• Amazon's latest funding follows the initial $4 billion investment made in September 2023. This move aligns Amazon's AI ambitions closely with Anthropic, similar to Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI.

• Claude will power Amazon's new and improved Alexa voice assistant, which has been delayed and is now slated for release in 2025.

• The collaboration will also focus on developing new "Trainium" accelerator chips, crucial for training Anthropic's next-generation AI models.

• Amazon Web Services customers will have the opportunity to fine-tune Anthropic's AI models, enhancing their ability to perform specific workplace tasks.

Unlike OpenAI, which relies on individual subscriptions to ChatGPT, Anthropic generates most of its revenue from enterprise clients like Pfizer and the European Parliament. This massive investment could help the company close the gap.
