AMAZON

Amazon to Test Humanoid Robots for Package Delivery

According to The Information, Amazon is developing AI software that will enable robots to work as package delivery workers, with real-world testing set to begin soon at a new facility.

Details:

  • The company is almost finished constructing an indoor "humanoid park" in San Francisco, where robots will be trained to navigate obstacle courses and perform delivery tasks.

  • Various humanoid robots will be tested at the facility, including a $16,000 unit from China-based Unitree.

  • The plan is to eventually have these robots ā€œhitch a ride in the back of Amazon’s electric Rivian vans and spring out to deliver packages.ā€

  • The report follows Amazon’s launch of a new agentic AI team to help develop technologies that will power robots ā€œoperating in Amazon distribution and logistics hubs.ā€

While the company has not officially confirmed the project, it aligns with Amazon's previous efforts, such as the acquisition of the robotaxi company Zoox in 2020 and the Prime Air service, which uses drones to deliver small parcels. All of these suggest a desire to fully automate end-to-end package delivery from the warehouse to your front door.

Google Rolls Out Improvements to Gemini 2.5 Pro

Google has introduced an enhanced version of its Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview model, featuring significant improvements in coding performance, math, science, knowledge, and reasoning capabilities.

Details:

  • The latest version maintains top positions on leaderboards like LMArena and WebDevArena, improving its Elo score and staying far ahead of competitors.

  • The company says the update addresses feedback from the previous 2.5 Pro release, ā€œimproving its style and structure — it can be more creative with better-formatted responses.ā€

  • This update also introduces ā€œthinking budgetsā€ that give developers more control over cost and latency, ensuring efficient scaling for production use.

The model will be generally available in a ā€œcouple of weeksā€ and is available starting today on its AI developer platforms AI Studio and Vertex AI, as well as the Gemini app.

Interact with AI representatives of trusted experts

Portraits is a new experiment from Google Labs that lets you interact conversationally with AI representations of trusted experts. These were built in partnership with the experts themselves and offer personalized recommendations and practical guidance based on your questions and comments, much like interacting face-to-face with a human coach.

Note: For now, the experiment is only available to users in the U.S. Google plans to expand it globally over time.

  1. Go to http://labs.google/portraits and sign in

  2. Select the Portrait.

  3. Begin chatting.

Google plans to add more Portraits in the future. For now, the only one available is Kim Scott, bestselling author of Radical Candor and Radical Respect, offering AI-powered coaching inspired by her renowned communication and leadership principles.

The foundation for these portraits is the creator's authentic content, which ensures conversations stay focused on their specific areas of expertise.

šŸ‘‰ You can also apply to create a Portrait of yourself. If you're an expert on a subject, an author, or a similar professional, you can apply here.

Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO, recently gave tips for students. He suggested learning AI tools, building the skill of adapting, and figuring out what people really care about. Altman explained that with AI making many things, knowing what matters to people will be the most important ability.

ChatEHR, an AI-powered tool developed at Stanford Medicine, allows clinicians to interact with patient medical records using natural language.

Currently in pilot testing with a small group at Stanford Hospital, ChatEHR can answer questions about medical history, extract relevant test results, and summarize long records—helping providers save time and focus more on patient care.

The new feature in Labs will create the visualizations to ā€œhelp bring financial data to life for questions on stocks and mutual funds.ā€ You can ask Google follow-up questions, too, and ā€œAI Mode understands what to research for you.ā€
