Alibaba Launches Slew of New Models, Including Its Biggest AI Model to Date

Alibaba has been releasing new models for voice, image editing, safety, and more over the past week, closing with the release of Qwen3-Max, its most powerful model yet.
Details:
Qwen3-Max is Alibaba’s largest-ever AI language model, with over 1 trillion parameters, standing out especially for its coding and agentic capabilities.
The model achieves top performance across a suite of benchmarks, matching or surpassing models such as Claude Opus 4, DeepSeek V3.1, Grok 4, and GPT-5 Pro.
The new Qwen3-TTS-Flash model generates natural-sounding speech in ten languages, including Chinese, English, Italian, and French.
For image editing, the new Qwen Image Edit 2509 brings improvements in handling faces, products, and text, with better consistency and the ability to process multiple input images at once.
Qwen3-VL, “the most powerful vision-language model in the Qwen family to date,” improves at understanding and generating text, perceiving and reasoning about visual content, supporting longer context lengths, and more.
Other models include Qwen3Guard, a new content moderation system that evaluates content in 119 languages; Qwen3-LiveTranslate-Flash, designed for multimodal interpretation; and an upgraded version of Qwen3-Coder.
It’s been a busy week for Alibaba, with the release of multiple new models alongside the announcement of a partnership with Nvidia to advance physical AI capabilities. The Chinese lab appears determined not only to outpace domestic rivals like DeepSeek but also to compete with the top AI labs.

The Minds Behind NotebookLM Launch New “Huxe” App

Three early builders of Google’s NotebookLM launched Huxe, an audio-first app that turns your emails, calendar, and interests into “podcasts” with multiple AI hosts.
Details:
Users can connect their email and calendar to receive a personalized daily brief, then explore any topic and get a podcast-style breakdown where they can interact with the AI hosts, ask questions, or request simpler explanations.
Huxe adds “live stations” for topics like tech, sports, or celebrity news that keep updating from new sources after you listen, plus a personalized interest feed that auto-generates fresh audio that might interest you.
The company raised $4.6M from Conviction, Genius Ventures, Figma CEO Dylan Field, and Google Research chief scientist Jeff Dean.

How to ask Meta AI for writing help in WhatsApp

You can use Meta AI to help you edit and rephrase your WhatsApp messages before you send them, with wording suggestions for different tones and styles.
Here’s how:
Open the chat where you’d like to send a message (this can be a 1:1 or group chat).
Type your message in the message field. You’ll see a pencil icon, tap on it.
If prompted, tap Continue.
Select a style. You can choose from: Rephrase, Professional, Funny, Supportive, or Proofread.
Select a message suggestion.
You can make additional edits before sending.
Note: This feature is available only in English and in the US (and a few other limited countries). If you still don’t see the pencil option, it may be because Private Processing features like Writing Help are optional and turned off by default. You’ll need to turn it on first:
Go to WhatsApp Settings.
Tap Chats > Private Processing.
Turn Private Processing features on.

Meta can’t read or access the messages you share by using this tool.

The Magnum Ice Cream Company will use Chilean startup NotCo’s AI to reformulate recipes, cut calories, develop plant-based options, and manage ingredient costs. The move follows growing consumer demand for smaller portions and more sustainable products.
Early partners include Twitch, Disney, and 18Birdies, with features ranging from livestreaming to theme park guides.
OpenAI is expanding its Stargate project with five new U.S. data centers, boosting total planned capacity to 7 gigawatts. Three sites are being developed with Oracle in Texas, New Mexico, and the Midwest, while SoftBank is backing sites in Ohio and Texas.
The rollout is starting today, though availability may take a few days depending on region.
This is not the first time Google expands AI Mode beyond English, as it had previously added support for Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese.
