PERPLEXITY

Perplexity Adds New Controls to Comet AI Assistant

As agentic AI browsers like Perplexity's Comet and OpenAI's ChatGPT Atlas gain the ability to perform complex tasks, like shopping or logging in, concerns about data privacy and malicious "prompt injection" attacks have increased. Perplexity has responded by adding key safeguards to the Comet Assistant, focusing on Transparency, Control, and Sound Judgment.

Details:

  • The AI will now pause and ask for user confirmation before performing "high-stakes" actions like logging into a site or completing a purchase.

  • Users can view the AI's step-by-step actions and its underlying reasoning in the Assistant sidecar.

  • Clear buttons enable users to immediately stop the Comet Assistant or request new guidance at any time.

  • The search bar now allows users to easily toggle between traditional browsing and letting the AI Assistant browse and act on their behalf.

  • These controls are designed to mitigate risks, like indirect prompt injection, where hidden instructions on a webpage could hijack the AI agent.

Shoppers are adding to cart for the holidays

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.

Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.

Top AI researchers look beyond LLMs

"Top AI researchers look beyond LLMs" focuses on the emerging frontier in artificial intelligence: World Models. This new type of AI is being developed by major players like Tencent, Google, and Nvidia, and is attracting top researchers away from focusing solely on Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • LLMs (Language Models), like ChatGPT, describe reality by memorizing facts and patterns.

  • World Models simulate reality by learning the laws of physics and their corresponding contexts.

  • World Models can take a simple input (like a 2D photo) and quickly generate a fully interactive 3D environment.

  • This allows AI to predict behavior in new situations (like understanding gravity), opening up entirely new markets and changing the economics of AI development.

  • Potential real-world applications discussed include:

    • Autonomous Driving

    • Real Estate Virtual Tours

    • Manufacturing

    • Designs
