AI Makes Pregnancy Possible After 18 Years of Trying

After nearly two decades of struggle, a couple turned to the Columbia University Fertility Center to try a novel approach called the STAR method, which uses AI to identify and recover hidden sperm in men who were once believed to have none.
Details:
The husband was one of the up to 15% of infertile men affected by azoospermia, a condition where virtually no sperm is detectable in semen samples.
The STAR system, inspired by technology used to detect distant stars, scans semen samples with high-powered imaging and AI to find viable sperm.
The method is far more effective than conventional techniques. In one case, STAR found 44 sperm in just one hour from a sample that embryologists had spent two days examining without success.
In the couple’s case, it managed to find three sperm, which were then extracted by a robot and used for in vitro fertilization.
The baby is due in December, and the success is offering new hope to couples struggling with male infertility, whose only options until now have been undergoing painful surgery or settling for donor sperm.
Now, they just need to provide a semen sample — and let AI do the work.

Cursor’s Pricing Change Sparks Backlash, CEO Issues Apology

Cursor is facing a wave of criticism after quietly altering its pricing model, introducing new limits and unexpected charges that have sparked outrage across social media and user communities.
Details:
Cursor changed its Pro plan from unlimited requests to compute-based limits, leading to faster credit depletion and unexpected charges for users.
Many users felt blindsided, with some canceling subscriptions and others voicing their anger on platforms like Reddit and X.
The company explained that as models become more sophisticated, requests use significantly more tokens — especially for tasks requiring deeper reasoning or longer context — making the previous pricing model unsustainable.
Cursor’s CEO, Michael Truell, posted an apology, admitted to poor communication, and promised refunds for unexpected charges made between June 16 and July 4.
While the company’s explanation for the change makes sense, introducing it without warning was clearly a poor decision. The damage to user trust may take time to repair.

How and why to use ChatGPT’s temporary chat

Temporary Chat is like incognito mode for ChatGPT. The convo won’t appear in your history, it won’t use or update ChatGPT’s memory, and it won’t be used to train the model. While OpenAI keeps a copy for safety purposes, it gets deleted completely after 30 days.
Why use it?
Privacy: By using ChatGPT a lot, you're providing it with a lot of information about yourself. This is one of the main concerns for some people when it comes to AI.
Fresh Perspective: The responses aren’t influenced by past conversations.
Sensitive Topics: Great for when you want to discuss something personal or analyze private work documents.
Reduces environmental impact: Less stored data means a smaller environmental load.
How to use it (Desktop or app)
Open ChatGPT.
Click the speech bubble icon in the top right corner.
(It looks like đź’¬ and is tucked into the corner.)Start chatting. Your conversation is now temporary.
To turn it off, just click the icon again.
*Note: It resets each time you start a new thread. You’ll need to turn it back on again if needed.
