Adobe Releases Firefly 3 with Full AI Image Generation in Photoshop

Source: Adobe

Adobe just announced Firefly Image 3, a powerful new version of its text-to-image AI model, along with the integration of generative AI tools into Photoshop.

Firefly Image 3 delivers dramatically improved image quality, speed, and control compared to previous versions. This new iteration has new auto-stylization, Structure Reference, and Style Reference capabilities and offers a wider range of styles for illustrations and symbols.

Additionally, Firefly 3 also brings new features to the beta version of Photoshop:

  • Users can generate images from text directly in Photoshop using Firefly 3

  • Enhanced Generative Fill with better inpainting powered by the new model

  • Use Reference images to guide the AI's outputs for more controllability

  • Generate backgrounds, create variations of image content, enhance detail automatically

These new features are available today in a beta version of the Photoshop desktop application, with a stable release coming later in 2024

AI RESEARCH

AI Can Discern Political Views from Blank Faces

Researchers found that AI can predict a person's political orientation based solely on images of their expressionless face.

Details:

  • The researchers recruited 591 participants and carefully controlled the environment and conditions under which each participant’s face was photographed.

  • The photos were then processed using a facial recognition algorithm, called VGGFace2.

  • The AI could predict liberal vs. conservative political leanings with a correlation coefficient of .22. While modest, this correlation was statistically significant and suggested that certain stable facial features could be linked to political orientation.

  • According to lead author, Michal Kosinski, the algorithm’s ability to accurately guess one’s political views is "on par with how well job interviews predict job success, or alcohol drives aggressiveness."

The researchers argue the study underscores the need for greater scrutiny and governance of facial recognition technologies to protect individual privacy.

AI Tutorial

Create a personalized “signature” with AI

You can combine your name with any object in a signature using this prompt:

Highly minimalist, single-line drawing where the outline of a tiny [OBJECT] on the left smoothly and fluidly transitions continuing into a signature on the right. The signature, prominently spelling out '[NAME]', should be clear, legible, and stylish on a [white/black] canvas. This drawing should embody simplicity and elegance, capturing the essence of a sophisticated and personal brand with an artistic and graceful feel.

Just replace the object and name tags and choose the background color. It works great with Bing Image Creator, but it should work for any image generator.
