Jeff Bezos’ AI Startup Prometheus Reaches $41 Billion Valuation

Prometheus, the industrial AI startup led by Jeff Bezos and former Google executive Vik Bajaj, has raised $12 billion in Series B funding, bringing its valuation to $41 billion and making it one of the most valuable AI startups in the world.

Details:

  • The company is focused on industrial AI, helping engineers accelerate the design and manufacturing process for complex products such as jet engines, medical devices, and consumer electronics.

  • Rather than building robots or automating factories directly, Prometheus focuses on using AI to optimize pre-production machinery and processes, such as prototyping. The company aims to build what they call an "artificial general engineer."

  • Bezos says the goal is to dramatically reduce the time required to move from an idea to a finished product, potentially shrinking development cycles by a factor of ten or more.

  • Prometheus currently employs around 150 people and operates independently from both Amazon and Blue Origin, despite Bezos being a major backer.

Executives argue that the technology is intended to amplify human engineering talent, making it easier to turn ideas into real-world products rather than replacing engineers altogether.

OpenAI Considers Price Cuts as Competition with Anthropic Intensifies

OpenAI is reportedly exploring significant price reductions for its AI services as it prepares for a potential pricing battle with Anthropic in the race to attract enterprise customers.

Details:

  • OpenAI is considering lowering the cost of tokens, the unit used to measure and bill AI usage, as businesses become increasingly sensitive to AI spending.

  • The discussions are reportedly being driven in part by expectations that Anthropic may also reduce prices, raising the possibility of a broader industry price war.

  • OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has acknowledged that AI costs have become a major concern for customers and has indicated the company is looking for ways to deliver more value at lower prices.

The move comes as OpenAI works to strengthen its position in the enterprise market, where Anthropic has recently gained momentum, though some businesses question whether rising AI expenses are truly translating into measurable returns.

5 NotebookLM Use Cases You Probably Haven't Tried Yet

Go to NotebookLM and sign in to get started.

  1. Turn audio recordings into searchable notes

Upload voice memos, meeting recordings, lectures, interviews, or podcasts and ask NotebookLM to generate a clean transcript. It will give you readable text along with a short summary and the recurring themes it noticed. This makes hours-long recordings much easier to review later.

  1. Make sense of documents in other languages

You can upload PDFs in any language and ask NotebookLM to explain them in your preferred language. Because it keeps the full document as context, it can provide more natural translations and answer follow-up questions about specific sections.

  1. Generate presentations

Upload notes, reports, or scripts and use the Slide Deck feature to generate a structured presentation with slide titles, key points, and visual suggestions.

Input a prompt like "Create a deck for beginners using a bold and playful style with a focus on step-by-step instructions." With a detailed prompt, you can get results that are much closer to what you actually need.

  1. Ask questions about user manuals

Upload manuals for appliances, vehicles, electronics, or other products and use NotebookLM as a searchable knowledge base. Instead of scrolling through dozens of pages, simply ask questions and let it find the relevant information for you.

  1. Use it as a personal meal planner

Upload your favorite recipes, cooking notes, or meal plans and ask NotebookLM to suggest meals based on ingredients you already have. It can recommend recipes from your own collection and even tell you which ingredients you're missing.
